Good evening everyone,

After some issues regarding my Ls2 VXR purchased a few months back I replaced the TB with a genuine second hand one which resolved the problem with the car running perfectly albeit with some unrelated issues. The harness on the TB had a broken tab so I held it in with some cable ties which done the job.

I have now fitted a brand new one ordered from America ( which was about £380 including import fees etc. I done the relearn procedure ( but if someone could kindly please confirm what it is) and all the issues popped up again, safe mode, engine spluttering.

Now, as this TB was cheaper than the one listed on rockauto I may have now come to realise that it may be chinese ****. Im going to fit the old one in tomorrow and see if the problem still persists. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences with aftermarket ones. As I'm aware the silver bladed ones are non existent and I'm not sure if I want to pay for the only ones listed on rock auto unless they are close to genuine and reliable.

Thanks again!

Exactly what do you need, and what did you fit ?

Silver blades are unobtanium...

LS3 gold blade has worked for some, but not all.

The LS3 gold blade has worked in every LS2 VXR I've heard about (including my own) and every LS2 GTO in the USA that has actually done it instead of just repeating an LS1 Corvette forum post from 1997.

Luis Sola says the VE LS2s don't like them though, I have no experience there though

neither silver blade or gold blade, or LS2 or LS3 existed in 1997 lol.

Indeed, I'm not a moron, but the closest to evidence I could find of a gold blade throttle body not working is related to very early Corvettes where seemingly some updated version of the throttle body had a gold blade and they weren't compatible across generations or on F-body LS1s.

Something along those lines anyway, if anyone can be bothered to fact check that it'd be really helpful as it's been years since I tried to find it so have forgotten the intimate details.

I've seen a few say it did not work over on the GTO forum. I've only done one car, and it appeared to work ok

Yeah it's weird, I've seen people there say it doesn't work, but they aren't people that have done it.

There was a huge thread on there of people who had done it confirming it worked.

I've not found a first hand account of anyone that's put a (legitimate) LS3 throttle body on an LS2 and it not work.

I think there's potential for people putting on random Amazon specials with a gold blade then moaning online about it, maybe that has diluted the facts enough, hard to tell. There's certainly enough out there to trick AI hehe
