Monaro Underside Restoration

Hi All

Can anyone recommend a place that can undertake the restoration of the underside of my Monaro? I’m thinking sub frames off, stripped and epoxy coated. Body stripped of underseal, epoxy coated and seams sealed. New brake and fuel lines, bushes, springs and dampers. Bolts replaced or plated. A full tidy up to close to new condition.

I’ve been wanting to do it myself for a long time but I don’t have the space or time. I fear I’ll start and never get it back together. Think it might be better to just pay someone to do it.

The only suggestion I can come up with is to do your own research on classic car restoration companies, depending on how far you are willing to travel.
As far as I’m aware the companies recommend on this forum are used for routine servicing and mechanical work, restoring the underside of a vehicle is pretty time intensive depending on what horror stories are found.
I would imagine if you start pulling the suspension and subframes off you will no doubt what to replace all the suspension bushings, shocks, springs and anything else you can think of.
Get a few quotations ( no doubt they will want to see the car first ) and price up all the additional parts you will likely need.
Once you have an idea of the cost you can sit down in shock and consume a good whiskey.
Cheap er no….worth it yes, but only if you are going to keep the car.

This is a job for any good classic car restoration firm.
It will cost many £ thousands.

These cars rot from the inside out. Chassis rails either side of the engine and sills are where you need to focus. Do this first.
