Hello all,
Just out of bone idle curiosity, has anyone ever bothered to repair their headlight control switch as mine no longer illuminates, I’ve also noticed that the mode buttons between the dash and the radio are a bit dull even when you turn the dimmer switch to full power.
I have seen used ones on e-bay but no doubt they will have the same issue. Some have converted to an LED and resistor upgrade, but that may be beyond my modest skill set

Are you sure the headlight control switch doesn't illuminate? Did you realise the ignition has to be on for this to light up?Just out of bone idle curiosity, has anyone ever bothered to repair their headlight control switch as mine no longer illuminates, I ve also noticed that the mode buttons between the dash and the radio are a bit dull even when you turn the dimmer switch to full power.

This sounds like the realistic answer.mfp4073 said:

I doubt it, simple matter of wiring an LED and resistor in series. i.e. end to end. (The resistor drops the voltage from about 12v to about 2v for the LED.) I'm sure you'll find a video on Youtube if you have a click around.I was driving at night last week when I realised the headlight switch was totally dark, the mode switch looked pretty weak too. All the other lights are working fine thankfully.
From a couple of OZ sites it looks to be a common failure. Why the bloody hell Holden couldn’t have used basic dash light bulbs is beyond me.
Anyway the cars coming off the road at the end of the month so I might give it a go over winter.

Take a look at this

Lots of info. For my money, and not wanting to mod the circuit board, I'd have put 4 resistors in directly to the legs of the LEDs, making them direct bulb replacements, as per one of the pictures there ( green sleeving ).
