Probibly mate, but it never came my way.
G'Day Nige,
I came here 13 yrs ago for a Holiday & to look at the lovely old Villages, Towns, Buildings and to see how different the UK was to Australia.
While over here I meet a lovely English Girl, (Karen) who had 2 young Children from a previous Marriage. As it was not possible to take the Children back to Australia, until old enough to decide for them selves, I decided to live here in England with Karen & we got married.
Well mate, I'm not going to sit here & slag off your Country, but I love Australia very much and as you may realise I'm a HOLDEN Fan Through & Through. So NO other place is ever going to be good enough for me, (that's the way I am)
At first it was a novelty all this cold weather, Snow & different surroundings, but after a while, (say a few weeks
) I did miss Home bad. Meeting all you great guy's with Holden's & Monaro's had helped me a lot. I think a lot of people come here because it's very different from Australia, also some want earn a bit of money to take back home where they get a good exchange rate.
Regards,
Rob.

I was born in Perth and raised there by my English Parents till I was 10 when we moved here and I started school. Things didnt work out and the family moved back when I was 15 but by then, I'd done some important growing up as an english lad, not an aussie kid. There's lots of both in me but ultimately, as much as I love Australia (and worked in the outback which I love) Ive decided to try and make England my home. It has alot more going for it than its residents give it credit for. Close to Europe, lots to do and see, history etc etc. As far as Im concerned, I am 100% CURSED with feeling like I have two homes (immediate family stil in Oz, extended family here) and by choosing to live in one place or the other I am making the best of a bad situation.
I love the UK and Oz but ultimately, for events and living, my pick is to be here and holiday there rather than the other way round. Im only glad that Im able to cross cultures to some extent through things like this forum, Vegemite, Walkabout pubs and the boy from Bassendean! I dont think I could completely give up either place or culture.

Okay...maybe Im not that fussed by Rolf Harris. Harry Kewell then?

Arrived here 3 and half years ago and fair to say I came for the novelty factor and the $ (damn Aussie keyboard doesnt do Sterling)
Have now bought a house and the kids are settled and what keeps me here is the $, the access to Europe, the history, the variety of weather and damn you can get a lot of car/s for the money....
Work also takes me back home from time to time as well

I have lived in Australia for 25years [ ex kiwi ] and moved there in the 70's. Aussie has a very special place in my heart,
Being based in Airlie Beach, Queensland, I met my English wife in a bar and decided I wanted to give the U.K a bit of a go . . 5yrs down the track I'm still here and love this place to bits. We still have our house in Oz, and return every year for a few months, but I'm always anxious to return back to the U.K and inparticular Weybridge were we have our house .
I even brought over my Holden VS '96 V8 SS HSV, complete with full Ozzie sheepskin covers, as I love my car to bits.
In total I absolutely love both countries., and N.Z as well.

Well to be honest, the main reason why I came to the UK was for the £. Plus easy access to the european mainland and was pretty easy to get a good job here initially.
The countryside is definitely different to home, which is a big plus. What I found hard initially was talking to people as you would back home when walking down the street. At the same time, alot of my friends are Australian's, with the occasional english crowd mixed in. Alot of my friends who are english I have found to be quiet wishy washy, and find it definitely alot harder to find those good quality friends. On saying that I the HSV group is a highlight and definitely alot of fun.
Applying for a visa to hopefully stay, as there is alot more I want to do, but at the same time looking forward to going home for a couple of months. Plan so far is to live and work in Munich for a couple of years before going home for the longer term.

Different aspect - UK person leaving to go to Oz - why - life is too short and the world is too small.
Australia was our choice for many reasons including climate, language, skill shortage, life style etc etc etc etc.
I can go on for months but at the end of the day its personal choice and Lynne Dan and I are very excited.
One tip to Ozzies coming to the UK - get our of London see the rest of the UK.
