Drive the Nurburgring

Malc & I were talking about maybe organising a trip to the 'ring for a long weekend, probably sometime in June this year - it's in the Black Forest in Northern Germany if you're unaware.
We both agreed it would be good to go along with an organised tour type of deal where all the hotels & itinery is sorted out for you.
However I'm having probs finding anything on the web - it's probably the way I'm searching but if any of you guys know of any such operators I'd be dead grateful.

I decided against using my P&J at the Ring, wasn't so much worried about my own mistakes, as I'd have been taking it easy anyway on a track that I'd never been on and one that takes years to learn anyway. It was the actions of some of the Nutters that you see, that freaked me out.
With hindsight I wish I'd gone now!
If you can afford the extra its worth going on a proper organised track day. The public days are great but you never know what you'll come across, lots of motorbikes guaranteed, even tour buses, I kid you not. Also lots of really fast guys that just appear from no-where behind you, can be a bit dicey. And with a proper track day you get to do laps, not just(just!!Ha ha)point to point.

Have been going there last few years. Take plenty of euro's!!!!!!!!

Remember its a toll road not a track!! and comes under German law, any accidents with injuries of which there is alot result in Police intervention, vehicles must be road legal and they do do noise tests but yet to see a car checked!!!!.
as someone said before nurgburgring.org.uk is best place for info (Ben Lovejoys site) he is a fountain of knowledge.
Any one who goes just be careful, and if you ever say "just one more lap" stop go inside cafe and have a rest,drink a redbull and chill for while, its a long demanding road and weather conditions can turn it from grippy to an ice rink within a minute.!!
That said its blooming fantastic!!!
I some footage of a wally on a motorbike going round like an idiot (me)quality not brill but I taped a Hi8 camera to my fuel tank to obtain it. (they have since frowned on videoing and also stopwatches etc as attributed to many accidents as people try to go faster).

Im definately up for this. I know you have to leave your ego in the holding area otherwise it can bite you back hard, but think the experience will be worth the risk.
Would love to go to Bedford again, especially with loads of others Monaro's and Holdens. If the noise issue can be sorted Im definately up for that one too.Thats assuming Im allowed back after the 'friends' I made last time.

I was searching Pistonheads this week and found this thread and I am not sure if you posted before, but I got an email yesterday about Ring trips from Driving Adventures?

I've been looking for a new business car for a while and I still fancy a Monaro, I know you all love it, but I'm still a bit worried to make the jump.

I went there last summer. Did some Autobahn cruising and a trip up to the Dam aswell. The 'ring is a pretty terrifing place - especially your first time - but its one of those trips that has to be done
On 2 of the laps I did I witnessed crashes right infront of me! Best time to go is weekday it can be mad at the weekends. I think I enjoyed the fast autobahn cruising as much as the ring. Definately would like to go again this summer.We have been there 3 times, just check the web site for an open weekend and book a ferry - no need for a tour operator.
For accomodation go to the dorint hotels web site (4* german hotels, part of Novotel group) and check for the Nurburg Dorint.
This hotel is full of racing memorabilia, has great modern rooms with balconies - most with a view of the GP and Nordschlief circuit - and it normally comes up at circa £60 per room per night unless its a race weekend when its always sold out. It has a secure garage, indoor pool, bar and is opposite the museum, circuit shop & go karts - handy if the missus or family are in tow as there is loads to do.
It is about 10 mins away from the public circuit and its also close to the Nurgburg village if you want to go and find the superb Pistenklaus restaurant.
Its a good 4-5 hour drive from Calais (we stop in Bruge on Friday nights) and go via Spa to get there early afternoon before the Saturday evening session starts.
A few words of warning.
i ) check its open on the planned weekend, its only 1 or 2 per month.
ii) if its raining then take it careful, i kept going and spun my monaro - narrowly missing both barriers. All of the locals went home as soon as it started raining and the supporters doubled!
iii) dont try to keep up with the local nutters in their home made sheds - most of them know the circuit to a degree you or I will ever master, their cars are 'optimised' and 'expendible'
iv) take it a bit easy round corners, i have come accross a biker on the floor!
