Anyone tried this mod?, sounds ideal, i know a MoTech system starts at around £1,500.00 plus add on's etc & time at the rollers!

Quote "around 540pounds Ft torque and 449 brake horsepower" that is good going from any road going LS1 that has to suck its own air in!!

""In the first instance, Simon 'piggy-backed' a MoTeC M8 programmable fuel and ignition computer together with the standard GM body computer and set about letting those 2-valve-per-cylinder heads breathe a bit better. This called for a mild camshaft upgrade, firmer Crane valve springs and titanium retainers, plus - to ensure adequate fuelling - the injectors were replaced with Bosch 803s. Note that the fitment of the MoTeC ECU also allowed removal of the factory airflow meter. Running a Nizpro exhaust behind the factory HSV extractors, Simon tuned the MoTeC computer to deliver 306kW at the flywheel and 240kW on the chassis dyno. With more grunt than a HSV GTS, it's no surprise the car was now a whole lot quicker. Not long after this stage had been completed, Simon then bolted on a pair of the custom 4>1 extractors that were developed as part of Nizpro's LS1 upgrade package. Fitting these heat-coated bananas bumped ATW power up to 250kW.""

There is now no need to go to the exspense of a MOTEC computer when the original computer is just as easy to program with the HPtuners/LS1Edit or FlashScan software. Do I know how to do it? er no!!!!

As above EFI Live, LS1 Edit, HPTuners, and perhaps more. Unless you are aiming for something like 1000bhp+, stick with the factory ecu. It can do EVERYTHING you need it to, and has been proven time and time again..

The only thing it cant to, is drive low impedance injectors, which when pushing serious power are about the only large injectors you can buy ( or would want to use anyway )

In an LS1 powered car that already runs the factory ecu, it would be a waste of money, and mental to switch to a Motec, expecially if you are hacking into your wiring loom..

Great info, Ok, asuming i have most of the above "hardware mods" already is a 2000 model Commodore GTS equiped with a fully programable ecu, or is it just the later Monaro LS2 & LS6 cars ??

If it has an LS1 ( or variant ) then you can buy software that allows you to re-program the ecu.

Ringram on these forums is the UK distributor for EFILive. Or Paul @ Wortec might be able to sort you with HPTuners or else a re-map.

And cheers....it'll hopefully be a lot faster next year
