What about suspension upgrades ? Has ayone bothered in that area much with their Holdens ?

As for my LS1.

I'll say 382ci, Eagle crank, Callies rods, Ross pistons, Edelbrock heads, 224/230 cam, 1.7 YT's, my big blower as usual spinning even harder, 73lb's, alky injection, and new radiator after I hacksawed my old one up.

Once thats up and running, I'll probably go for an Edelbrock carb intake, and a nice custom elbow from www.intakeelbows.com
Check out Aarons work, he makes some cool alloy stuff

TBH I dont care if it gives any more power. They just look damn cool although it should free things up a bit top end.

After that I'm not spending a damn penny, cos I'm broke

Well, unless the gearbox breaks...

Cant wait to see your heads Richard.... when do you expect them ?
Will you be fitting new pushrods with the new cam ?

Yes, well shipping was supposed to be 3rd March, but now 23rd April! So the backorder stretches further.. Was hoping to do Nurbergring in April with everything installed..
Apparently they are selling like hot cakes. In theory I have roller rockers and hardend pushrods already installed by LSV in the HSV.
Suspension is already uprated in the HSV's not too worried about more upgrades as yet.
Im thinking of getting the cam in now and doing the heads and intake later.. At least that will give me something to play with and tune up.
Hows your tuning going Stevie?

I know it's a bit chav-ish but does anyone in oz make carbon fibre boot or bonnet skins? Just wondering how much weight will be saved & increase in acceleration on a strip

Here is my list in no particular order.

2005 Monaro bonnet
VZ style wings
HSV rear window spoiler
Diff upgrade
Throttle body (HSV) to go with ORCAI.
Coil over suspension (the HSV stuff is getting a bit old now with 40k on it)

Just getting ready for the summer!

I looked into reducing weight on my car. My granada bonnet weighed in at around 22 kgs, which is pretty damn heavy.
I got a new one made locally from Kevlar. Single skin, about 7 mm thick. It weighed in at 12kgs.

That saving wasnt worth it. I decided just to keep a nice heavy car, with all its comforts, and just get more power.
Even runs Ive done with passengers ( well at Crail only ) the difference in time with 1 person, and 2 people in the car was negligable.

Weight will make a difference of course, but you need to be removing a LOT of weight to do so.

Well I am getting my car back later this week after some interesting mods which will probably be the end of the line for me apart from some new 19inch wheels - once saved up after a house move.

Will post more once I have experienced the mods and can offer some opinion on success/outcome. If they are successful the APs may become a must.

Would like to go down the route of enhancing the look as I have an 04CV8 but the I have chosen to spend my car budget on performance instead - really like those rear window spoilers and HSV style front/rear bar but it will costs several thousands by all accounts - bit mad really.

P47 Did I see your car at Monkfish under the knife? If so then I think I know what sort of tasty goodies you have.
Let us know how it goes.

I have the Starr Performance coilover set up from Oz with the blue polyurethane bushes, possibly the best mod behind fitting AP stoppers...

Car Made 377bhp @ wheels with 360 pounds ft torque, flat curve from 4000-5500 (bhp pulled to 6000rpm ) when we tried to get an engine reading the rollers would only calculate up to 420bhp which was not enough!!
Stevie, i'm still looking at coil over's was going to make my own with Koni inserts or use the KW set up, but will probably go for the Star performance kit now as a basic set up, Will did you order direct from Star ?

I think the value used is 18% (thats what they used at the WRC dyno day in August) so that puts you right at 460bhp - nice job and a value that reflects your mods!

Indeed it is - some say it's 25%, others will say its 15%. Only way to tell is for someone to get their engine out onto an engine dyno. I just mention 18% as a memory from that WRC day, it also seems to be what the Aussies and the majority of American reckon as well; lets just settle on the fact that the car is gonna go fast!
