Went to get my car off the drive this morning, nice pool of power steering fluid on the ground

I think it is just a pipe that has come loose, certainly found one, will have a go at re-fitting it tomorrow, just a bit of a bugger to get to. Sort of scares me a bit that this could have come off at any time, lucky it was sitting on the drive, but what if it was while throwing it around country lanes?

Hopefully I can sort it out in time, but got my car booked in for Wortec upgrade on Wednesday.

For those that are interested, it is this pipe:

A few of my cars have had the hose clamps not done up well enough especially on the power steering cooler hoses.
Get under there and tighten any hose clamp you can see!!!! (not too tight so you squash pipes though!) clean the power steering fluid away and see if it is there the next morning.

A dumb question, can I just fill it up again with fluid or do I have to bleed it at all?

If there is still fluid in then you should be ok, they are self bleeding. Will give it the once over etc on Weds.

As far as I can see there is none left in it at all, reservoir is empty. Must have been a good couple of pints on the driveway

Any particular fluid I should use?

A word of caution................

Don't run the car until you have put fluid in!!!!!!!

The fluid is a simple ATF Fluid found at most good retailers, you should top it up and then get someone to start the car while you have the fluid ready to top up the resevoir if it drops when running........It is VERY important not to let the pump run dry.....

Very similar experience to me although the pipe stayed on, Greens will check it all fine all so check the diff, and some of the sump bolts bolts need a check torque.

I can be so dumb sometimes!! Why bother trying to do it myself when I have AA HomeStart??

I have got to say I was impressed with the AA, they were literally here within 5 minutes. First time I have even used them and a Gold Star to them

In the past mine were slightly loose also.
No loss of fluid other than a slight trace on the pipe.
Fine once the hose clamps were properly tightened.
