Happy ANZAC day
Discussion
Normally sitting around a BBQ, watching the AFL on the TV and having a couple of beers. Use to be a bit different when I was younger, use to go around to my dad's uncle franks place and pretty much have a BBQ and quiet a few beers and glasses of wine. He never really talked about it until I was alot older, and said if there was a place worse than hell it was there.. He lost his eye there and a couple of fingers..
I was talking to a few mates over there and they said they didn't learn about it at school, it was something either their parents told them or they found out from the media etc. Melbourne apparently has floats and things like that in the city today. As for AFL, my team lost... again!

In memory of the fallen at Gallipoli.
How do you guys normally commemorate this?
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/anzac/anzac_tradition.htm
It's a very important day mate, and loads of poeple turn out in memory of the Diggers that lost their lives on the beaches of Gallipoli 91 yrs ago.
Just to give you an idea, around 40K people turned up in Perth for the dawn ceremony and big numbers also in Sydney & the other Capitals around Australia.
This is followed by marches in towns all over the Country, then people gather in Pubs & Clubs to play the Game of Two Up, where you simply bet heads or tails on the toss of 2 coins. This game is only legal on ANZAC Day.
Regards,
Rob.
Go the mighty Magpies!!!
Great to see 92,000 fans at the Gee (1st game since comm games) and a top match by all reports. Bout time we won ANZAC day.. lost the last 3.

It was our first Anzac day which was cool.
We went to the parade and rememberance service -pics below then went to a friend for a BBQ all afternoon and night. The weather wasn't too good so it was a good excuse for a beer. Very nice.
The pics below show what Port Macquarie town is like. The rememberance service was well organsied and very moving. We also had the Deputy PM in attendance in Port Macquarie and the nice thing is absolutley no security anywhere.
Hope you enjoy.

The last pic is the school that Dan is going to, maybe he will be in the parade next year.
