Newbie question about climate control

I have a VT GTS and have a quick question. Am I right in understanding that both the rotary switch type panel and the push button digital panel both use the same electrical connectins at the back? Is the rotary on as conventional in that it uses cables and hoses etc? Can I swap the rotary for a digital one? Great forum guys, I have only just bought the car (which has been a pipe dream since I was still in NZ). I hope I get to know some of you in the future.

unfortunatly the conversion is not simple as the cars are different base models if it has Climate or Air Con and many parts are different.........
