This vehicle is currently being advertised on Ebay with a 'buy now' price of £7200, by someone supposedly living in Leicester. This is the ex Top Gear car that was recently advertised by a dealer in Thrapston, Northamptonshire. Whoever is selling it is even using the dealers original photos from his site. Further down on Ebay there is an entry to say that this is a scam to obtain £2500.
If you intend on bidding on this car, I would suggest that you bid with caution. You have been warned!!!

Hello there and thanks for your interest.
Firstly, I want you to know that I ended my auction early because of a buyer who assured me that he will purchase, but just bailed on me in the last minute. The price that I want to obtain is £7,200 (includeing shipping and insurance charges). I'm requesting a £2,500 REFUNDABLE deposit prior to transporting the car to your location and the remaining balance to be paid upon delivery, inspection and approval of vehicle.
The car is like new, everything is in perfect working order, low miles,2004 VAUXHALL MONARO model. It has always been garage kept and adult driven, never abused or raced . It is a UK model in compliance with UK emissions, clear title in hand, still registered in UK and you will have no problem registering it onto your name. The car will be shipped via air freight from Zagreb, Croatia and it will take no more than 7 business days to arrive at your location.
This is a large purchase and I would suggest using a third party to complete this purchase as I want a smooth and safe transaction. We will use Ebay Square Trade, I have completed quite a large number of successful deals using them. I have a Purchase Protection Account of US $10,000 and I assume you know what this means.
If you agree with these terms, please reply with your full name, address and ebay ID and I will consign the transaction at eBay asap.
Regards,

Thats what I got in response to my enquiry re this car. What you reckon - should I send £2500 to Croatia on off chance its genuine?

Standard scam. I just managed to stop one of my sons getting caught out in the same way. Reported it to Ebay and the police but it appears nobody is interested in stopping these morons. Oh for the chance to meet face to face with just one of them

Have a look back to Demolitionman's thread on 15/3/06. If you go back on this topic to my comment, dated 28/2/06, you will see that it was a Top Gear car, offered for sale by a dealer near me. It seem to have come down in price, he originall wanted £25,000 for it.

I personally would want a car with less milage, but £21000 is far better than the £25000 that it was originally up for. To be realisic however, 38000 is not a lot for a modern engine, and at least you know that it has been serviced properly. Depends on what you want really.
