and didn't get to bend over for bubba.

Mine would be about 130mph in the Moanario and I backed off sharpish when I realised (it got there so quickly!)

ON my Hayabusa though have seen 180 and it scared me stupid!

Drove from Abingdon to Heathrow in 38 mis early one mornin with my Oz plates on. Nudged 160 a few times & had the cruise control on 140 for a few miles - eyes were on stalks!!! talk about hightened senses at 4.30AM! Scary how stable the car feels at that kind of speed though, just seems to hunker down & hang on!
(damn - I just got up & realised there is an MG parked where my Coupe used to be!)

65 in a 60mph limit and 77 on the dual carriage/motorways, it's amazing how points on your licence inhibit the top speed of this car.

120 mph, when I let my wife drive for the first time with only 300 miles on the clock. I do not like been a back seat driver but was forced to tell her to back off.

Be careful how you reply to this. Speaking to some biker friends yesterday was told of a biker who gloated about his speed when and where and the next thing the forum modetrator knew he had an e-mail from Plod requesting the thread history as evidence!

I don't think it helped he was gloating about stupid speeds and getting away from the police in the process......

175mph (Road Angel not speedo), where legal of course! Wouldn't normally have dared take my eyes away from the road even for a split second, but there was a really loud noise from the window seals that I'd never heard before & I guessed correctly that is must be because I was going the fastest I'd ever been.
It was slightly uphill as well! Wish that I had been able to max it, but I think you'd need a very long stretch of Autobahn. Bruntingthorpe was not nearly long enough.

155, but had to bail out braking into a righ hander going into a roundabout, will try for 160+ once my Star shocks are fitted as the car will be a lot more stable at high speed and under harsh brakeing!! --

Am I the only one who doesn't really care about sustained top end? Is there something wrong with me? Anything 30mph over the speed limit and you can say goodbye to your licence. Also, having had a blow out at motorway plus speeds, I dread to think what would have happened at the speeds being talked about here.....

I mostly get my kicks from acceleration and overtaking - something the VXR does extremely well!!

But......... come to think of it, I did momentarily hit 130mph spanking a Subaru WRX yesterday (6 of the best, trousers down)

Too true Demolition Man.

I too favour mega acceleration and mid range wallop. What sold it too me was a session around the Bedford GT circuit where the straight was 1.1Km long and we were hitting about 140mph by th end. Who got there first was determined (obviously) by corner exit speed and thumping acceleration!

However, to deal with some more serious machinery I believe that above 100/130mph and upwards is where these cars really come into their own...

Off the clock at 160 in my old Civic Type R but in reality it was probably about 145-150 (max book figure 147).

Just thought I would add that for a little comparission, not that there can be one between a Monaro and a Civic!

I wonder how much our speedo's are out at that speed?

The Monaro speedo seems remarkably as it goes.

I've had the GPS running in the cabin and have compared it at lots of different speeds - it rarely seems any more than 1 or 2 mph out at any speed.
