Don't know if you guy's saw the Monaro on Top Gear last night (repeat). It was the show that had the Red HSV one....(bloody poofta turned the traction control on).

Firstly is the black one (quoted as GBP70,000) the one with the Callaway engine in it as it was producing 440bhp!

Secondly how much can you squeeze from a CV8 LS1 without a second mortgage.

Cheers HH

I caught that one for the first time last night too. Thought that the red one looked and sounded very nice.

Couldn't work out the black one though. Clarkson said it had 440bhp and did 0-60 in 4 secs....yet it was then losing for about the first 6 secs of a drag race with an XKR.
(Didn't like the wheels on the black one either.)

Dont think the car ever produced that HP (was dynod last year i think at about 400) and i also thought it kept braking down when TG were trying to do the drag race.

That's a lot of ponies but then again it was LSV that produced them

I took the car down to Top Gear for the programme and was with the car all day, which is more than Caspy was, and can state that the car did NOT break down. If Caspy had bothered to check his facts first he would have found this to be the case.

The only car to break down was the standard Monaro which blew a power steering hose, and was repaired by Mark

So Peter, what are the performance details and BHP for the record?

That sounds like a Monaro, quite well known for blowing PS hoses from what I hear (and experience!)

BHP 442 as per WRC Dyno Day

0-60 time estimated by the Stig at Dunsfold after driving it

Apologies to all offended. I took the bhp of the LSV website when the car was advertised on it (obviously another accidental typo on their part) and was told by Mr Clarkson that the car broke down, i will take it up with him. Thanks for putting me straight.

If the car was broken, it could not have beaten the XKR.

The car was driven to Dunsfold and back under its own power (442 bhp !!)

However, apologies accepted, and we now consider the matter closed.

For those of you that missed it, you can view it by clicking on UK Drivers Club at the top of this page
then selecting Videos and selecting either TG or Top Gear.
