G'day everyone, been reading through your site for a bit now, thought I'd make a contribution and see what kind of reaction I get! (be gentle...) I've noticed some expressing an interest in the ute, maybe even the crewman, well here's the Statesman.

Now it's not quite an HSV but with careful selection of modifications it's getting closer all the time, the biggest hurdle is a bodykit...first things first though:

2003 Holden WK Statesman 5.7 V8 LS1, basically Holden's long wheel base luxury car (with the caprice another step up, then the HSV Grange) tweaked to 231.7rwkw (310.7rwhp), 3.9 diff ratio, 4.1 extrators, hi-flo cats, 2 1/2" twin cat back exhaust (all stainless), PBR K1 brake package, OTRCAI MAFless tune etc, etc..

Hope you enjoy the pics...

impressive

where are you in the world, just wondering if you have any problems with overheating caused by the OTRCAI

I'm in Adelaide, South Australia. No trouble what-so-ever, almost none of the surface area of the radiator is covered by the OTRCAI (one or two rows of "fins" if anything) and the drop in temperature in the charge going to the throttlebody adds about 7 to 9rwkw.

Yep thats a PT type otrcai. Nice.
I should have mine arriving any day. Looking for similar gains etc.
Anytime intake temp rises to 30*C or more power is lost due to spark retard. otrcai helps reduce that by getting more cold air in.
Its a much shorter intake tract to, so air has less time to heat up.

Im hoping for 100bhp from it hehe.

I'm not too sure performance wise (maybe 10 extra kw and firmer suspension from the factory) but the caprice is a step up in terms of the luxury aspect: built DVD player and LCD screens on the back of the front headrests, audio system controls in the rear seats that kind of thing, slightly different bodywork, the black bezel headlights like I've put on mine (WL Caprice items...straight fit) little things that distinguish it from the run of the mill Statesman.

The grange is HSV's version of the Statesman: upgraded engine (6 litre in the newest) better brakes, suspension, interior and a bid body kit, looks very cool.

This is a dude's from the Ozzie LS1 forums...very tasty...

Well, in my opinion, you can keep your Merc's & Beemer posh cars...just give me that Statesman. Lovely motor.

On the white Grange you mean? They're holding some headlight and bonnet protectors in place if I'm not mistaken. It's not my car so I can't be sure 100% but I'd go as far as 98% that's what they are.

Thought so. Could do with them up here at the moment as they are surface dressing all the main roads. Nightmare.

Those wheels on a Monaro would look great, perhaps someone could make a "photoshop" mock up.
