Oopps... I got gatso'd today .... but there's a twist...

The camera, which looked like a normal Gatso, was on the other side of the road, therefore facing me.. but there was no trafic coming... also, I was almost parallel to it when the flashes went off.

So, how long do I hold my breath before letting out a sigh of relief that it didn't get me

You wont get done by a GATSO facing you - a SPECS camera maybe but not a standard, bog stock grey or yellow GATSO.
They are triggered by but not calibrated for oncoming traffic.

I wouldn't worry over it.

Sounds like a truvelo.....they have rings in the road that go off almost on the camera...and are forward facing and yellow! Fingers crossed that it was a dud.

Yep, that confirms it... Was a Gatso facing South... I was going North... Phew!!!

Exactly the same thing happened to me last year with a Gatso in Crawley, nothing came of it.

I was doing an 'indicated' 30mph above the limit when I got flashed by a GATSO in the opposite direction (2am, empty trunk road). Imagine my surprise and trousers for the next few weeks!

Nothing droped through the letter box. I wouldnt worry if I were you.

OK.. Slight diversion from the main subject...

I've just received a NIP for speeding in a car I had just sold the same afternoon of the offense... git....

Now have to go throught the rigmorol of prooving it was not me...

My advice is... When you fill out the transfer of registration... Make sure you put the TIME on it..

nothing recorded.... but he was here in the afternoon because i picked him up from the airport

Pretty simple really......just put his name on the Notice and a covering letter to say you had sold it that day and didnt own the vehicle in the afternoon. The fuzz will track him down.

do gatso's only work if there is a flash?

went past one today, not much over the limit. it didnt flash (i watched it in my rear view). From what i have read these need to flash to get the number plate.
