Just cancelled all my other polices with Nat West and Direct Line, and took out insurance with A-Plan. 8 Years no claim on the HSV GTS Coupe £539 - (with claims protecton). For the commodore £419.

One thing I can say, is don't accept the first quote... initially it came throught at £1400. Said, to go away and come back with a better price.

Just so that everyone knows what the current prices are for insurance.

Jace, this was posted a while ago... It related to payouts for mods in the event of a claim.

Yeah, can't see putting any mods in any time soon on my cars.. Would love to, but there is a point where you gotta say, fast is fast enough... (Ok, maybe not, but still getting over the shock of how quick the Monaro is).

Thats really wierd! I had the same quote from A-Plan £1350 I said thats miles high so they queried with the underwriter and they came back and said no its correct theres no way they would match an alternate I had for £650!!!

Dont understand that, I have 9 yrs no claims, no convictions, no accidents and am nearly old enough to qualify for SAGA. Whats even worse is I ma currently an A-Plan customer and they said that meant I would get preferential rates????

Hi Raggy and thanks. Can you tell me which A-plan branch or give me a number? They have Jap Import and UK vehicle specialist branches and I went via my jap import existing branch who transferred me to another office. I've tried both but dont have a Richard

No worries... I think that there is definitely money in setting up an insurance company were people are respested, and there exists a thing called customer service, other than the computer just simply says no.

Just an update........called A-Plan back, didn't get to speak to Richard but spoke to a Guy called Chris C and after a few minutes of holding and tooing and froing, partly cos I'd got the excess wrong in the alternate quote and partly because I wanted to make sure that I got the same benefits that the other insurer was offering, A-Plan came through with a price match. Thats quite a turn around though from £1040 (£1350 was wrong that was someone else!) to just over the £600 mark. So looks like I'm staying with A-Plan and Groupama for another year

The thing that puzzles me is why I had to call them back and query that yet again to get any movement. Last week, having already asked them to check that was correct, they seemed adamant they couldnt do better and were quite prepared to let me walk to the competition?

Thanks Raggy (and A-Plan) and I guess A-Plan should be thanking you to Raggy

Quiet simple really... the insurance computer system say's NO, and that is all they have to do.
Most of them couldn't be bothered to help you out, that is why I walked from the other insurance companys. Lets hope that A-Plan stays competitive, but agree, it is stupid that they go, well this is the price, and then they come back with a much better price. My question would be, who is ripping who off.

my quote started around the £2500 mark, with the "Thats as low as we can go" rubbish.

Ended up paying £1240 with adrian flux. Not bad, im only just 25, with 3 years no claims and 1 sp30
