99% sure mine aren't like that. I'd just change them for some stainless ones or cadmium coated to prevent it happening again. Have never done the job but would imagin it's straight forward enough.

Mine are so rusted there is no hex to the nut, just an orange blob.
I used some rust remover to get rid of the corrosion and sprayed the blob with waxoil.
Hopefully that has arrested it before it spreads to the boot lid.
You can get the odd nut off, but not the bolt which is part of the spoiler. Maybe you can take the whole spolier off and replace the bolt etc, but thats the point at which I decided just to arrest the rust and be done with it.

Underneath the car is another story, take a look you will be "interested" in some of the rusty bolts there. Perhaps the same process can be performed. Just needs a nice sunny day and some axle stands.

Replace all you can...........if any cant be removed use Hammerite Kurust then spray with Hammerite black Under Body Seal with Waxoyl after 3 hours having masked off surrounding area(s) first. Doesn't fully dry, ie remains tacky do keep in mind but best there is. Both obtainable from Halfrauds.

just checked the underside of mine, and it all looks pretty good, there are a couple of bolts near the back that need a little attention, but they are in better shape than the spoiler ones.

On another note, ive just had to move my car and i noticed a whine coming from the engine, i cant remember hearing this whine before but i know its been there for a couple of days now. I cant hear it if i get up over 30 but its there if i am idling. Im not sure if i am just hearing things that i havent noticed before.

edit - just been for a longer run, the whine gets higher pitched as i put my foot on the gas, and seems to disappear the higher the revs. Ill try and take a vid of it later.

Accessory belt? The new supercharger you forgot you had fitted?

You could disconnect the belt for a few minutes and try it again. That will eliminate the accessories.
