Crawling through traffic back into London last night on the M4 to get back in time for the match, a biker was cruising through the gaps and then slowed down in front of me, turned round and gave the thumbs up, pointing at the car and then thumbs up again.

First month into Monaro ownership, and thats a first for me in any car. Car respect from a biker, fantastic!

You get a lot of that driving a Caterham especially on the continent, but never had it in a more conventional car.

You'll get a lot more of that sort of thing.

From young lads in the back of Dads car mouthing "It's a Monaro!" to their brother to people wandering over for a chat in a petrol station.

I've even had a chap knock on my front door to talk about the damned thing!

I have had that twice now!

People just aren't used to seeing Monaro's, you will just have to get used to people looking at your car, taking pictures, fainting etc (or maybe it is me they are looking at!)

There'll be plenty of other acknowledgements in time to come. There are a fair few Ros about the place where I am living, but I still get some positive acknlowledgments. The car seems to turn the heads of the guys at Racing Green TVR as I drive by every day, quite a few ppl asking questions at Petrol Stations, more of my neighbours are now more interested and less critical and more recently I had a German Lorry driver videoing me as I went by several times. We were allowing each other to overtake one another so he could get some footage, not that I condone a HGV driver hanging out of his cab to take video shots....hehe!!

Also I'm suprised at the amount of Porsche, Noble and Aston owners who give you the thumbs up after sitting behind you for a few miles getting a taster of what the car sounds like.

All good fun and makes you grin like a chesire cat on LSD every time you get the thumbs up!!
