That looks like a VX GTS too, which is good due to the links in the rear suspension. But you can get a non SC GTS for maybe 10-12K these days, so it depends if a supercharger is worth £12K or not!?

It's a good question... I dunno! Price doesn't seem wildly out to me - given the mileage and apparent condition...

I think it could be a slightly tricky car to sell on. They're not that well known to start with, then it's been modded (supercharger) which will put some people off. And for the same money you can buy a superb Tuscan. For a little more there are newish Monaros etc.....?

Actually

thinking about it

The price may be a little on the optimistic side...

I think the car is priced correctly, not a bargain but a fair value for the car given its condition, the blower is worth £10k IMHO

Don't compare this to the Monaro as the new prices are totally different as the car in question would have been close to £50k without mods when purchased.

But.... as I found out with my Landrover Defender, unless you find a complete car buff....Mods don't make money on re-sale

Quite right, probally £60k spent on mods to date & I would be lucky to get £30k for the car, so a loss of £50k (possible more), good job I still love the car

Its probably at least 6k over the top in terms of pricing.

Its a specialist market and 2004 CV8 Monaros are selling for £16k.

It is unfortunate people draw the comparison of a CV8 when talking prices because the HSV GTS (uk spec) is totaly different car!!!!!!!

it is a specialist car (there were only 5 offical UK cars)and the S/C will put some people off.......

As for price it is a bargin for what you get.......

I am not saying they are directly comparable, but to the wider market they would look at a 2004 / 2005 VXR compared to a 2003 saloon and question why to pay more.

A cv8 might appeal to a wider audience at 8k less.

Possibly enough to fund a Wortec tune & exhaust, AP brakes, coil overs and a LSV supercharger.

It still wouldn't be an HSV GTS though. Having said that, and owning 2 myself, I do think it is a bit expensive. If anything is correctly priced it sells, these cars are known to be special.

Ok how about this then.....

£16000 for a Monaro (cheap?)
£399 Tune
£860 exhaust
£2000 brakes
£1600 suspension
£3000 s/c

£23892 total

or a car with about the same spec and better seats for £23000.....Not much in it?

I did not want to bring the HSV flag waving into the debate but the HSV GTS has a lot of hidden talent which owners know all about

HSV every time for me..........

Plus two extra doors, speccy toolkit, pen knife, body kit (of sorts) and a build number

Just looks like a lot of car for the cash really. If you were in the market right now for a new CV8, this would HAVE to be a consideration. Save for the wanky number plate.

I know Mods would put me off...I remember a loooonnggg time ago, I was looking for a GSI 2000 Cavalier but most of them all had some sort of modification, exhaust, suspension etal.

To get an un-fettered one, I would have had to pay extra over a sooped up one because Joe/Jane Public immediately assume "Modded=Ragged" and therefore steer clear

We are connoisseurs on here and know what that car is all about..but try explaining that to Joe/Jane

Jeez...wot a load of bx i've just written

Its all relative though innit? Surely only afficianados will be looking for and therefore be interested in, that car in anycase. Therefore it doesnt matter what Dick and Jane think?

I actually think that mods help to sell Monaros (not sure about GTS's, perhaps a slightly different market??), I regurlary check the Pistonheads classifieds and cars with modifications by Wortec (the only ones I've seen for sale on there) seem to go really fast where as those that don't are left on there for ages.

But how much are the Wortec car cost in comparison.

BX Alert!!!

Two cars sit side by side, same make/model/colour/mileage/history etc more importantly Same Price....but one has Wortec Stage 1 - Which one would you choose..

Now, same situation, but Wortec car is now £1500 more because of the mods... Still gonna pick the same car? (assuming you choose the Wortec car above)

I keep a close eye on the for sale ads and I see that a "wortec" modded car is not de valued by having the upgrades......

BUT it does not add value (as BOSS says) BUT we are only on stage one of world domination so this situation may change..................
