speedo problem

yesterday the speedo was reading 160

while i was doing 20 mph on a country lane

had to pull over and cycle the ignition about 6 times to get it back to zero

anyone else had this????

If it's a Monaro, it is a problem that Vauxhall are aware of and will fix as a few of us here have had it done. My whole dash unit was replaced.

and the computer dosnt turn off lights and stereo after the required time either????

Yep mine did that and as said instruments replaced under warranty.
Three hour job I think.
Hasn't done it since

Sean, Just contact your neareset Monaro specialist and he'll book you in as they have a TSB on this issue. Some people have had a software upgrade to sort it and some - like me - had the whole instrument cluster replaced. I hade 200mph on my display doing 30!!! Times like that you need a camera

Just had the old speedo trick on mine last week (04 CV8).

First time it was consistently 40mph on top, a few ignition restarts dropped it back.

2nd time all the instruments were AWOL, temp showing cold, revs working as speedo, speedo all over the place, and fuel showing empty on a full tank. Couldn't reset it but it disappeared the next day. Caspy, I may have to do the trip to yours after all...

Just note that the digital speedo still works even when the instruments are going crackers.
