I was having a little 'sport' (ahem.... safe road, could stop in the distance I could see to be clear etc etc) with a 911.
I dropped it into 3rd and booted it for an overtake.
As soon as the power came on, I felt the clutch pedal move under my foot and when the fun was over, I noticed that the clutch bite had changed... Now it's closer to the floor.
Am I to be worried? Can I adjust myself? Can any dealer adjust?

We had this problem with our 04 CV8 but I was under the impression that the 6.0l VXR's were unaffected by the 'sticky clutch problem?' Apparently not though... It is caused by the clutch fluid boiling and expanding outside of its resevoir or something like, I beleive Paul @ Wortec has been developing a solution...
HELP TOO!!
What are the chances, just got back from Nurgburgring or I have the car is still there due to whilst having fun with Porsche Turbo went from 5 to 4 gear but couldn't engage 4 gear I thought just clutch fluid boiled so 1hr later at side of track cooling still no go result towed off track 175 euros!!!! car left in Germany now trying to sort recovery. Note next day still unable to enage gear of any description so it is bigger problem than just fluid boiling methinks!!!.
Ps AP brakes rule no question 140 mph to 60 mph hard stops several times a lap and 13 laps completed and brakes still absoulutely super, in actual fact did most of my overtaking of the fast boys on the brakes.
HSV GTS-R handling is suited brilliantly to the ring no problems at all well planted in all bends although was only doing 9min 20secs due to four people being in the car did manage quick one down to 8m 55 with Aussy guy I met there who was well stoked to hitch a lift round in a GTS.

I did 16 laps in the Monaro around Nordschleife last month in 30+ degree heat. Obviously having a standard 04 VXR there was some element of ‘brake management’ going on but nothing wrong with the clutch what so ever. I can assure you I was definitely giving it large
. Clutch is A.OK with no difference in the pedal.
Did you rest the car every couple of laps?
Does the brake and clutch use the same set of fluid?
Maybe that the disks and pads were bearing up to the heat but the fluid wasn’t!
Just a theory

Given the use, heat, age of car and mods.....probably boiled the fluid. If it is black and got bits in it, then a clutch fluid change should resolve. The clutch and brakes have seperate resevoir.

How about a constructive answer.
You guys have been working on this so plase shed some light for all of us here on what progress has been made. Le Sarthe mentions a fix that has worked - is there a fix for the 6.0 too? Would be useful to know as I'm considering buying one of caspy's "bargain" wortec VXR's right now. Only two of our 6.0L cars have shown this problem so far and a fluid upgrade has fix both................
I am sure the problem will come back as the power increases and in which case the fix used on the LS1 might be the answer........(time will tell)
The knee jerk reaction is to uprate the clutch at £1000 pounds!!! we decided to try some more cost effective options concernig the the fluid system, which included temp probes in the bell housing and clutch lines.
Our opinion is the fluid system is boarder line on the standard car and when Torque is increased (approx 420ft Lbs)the heat generated on gear changes transferes into the fluid system with the knock on effect SOME!!!! cars experience............
ps. I have edited this post a bit with regards to the constructive bit.........

OK, had a good look over the car....
The clutch header tank is full of black gunk and there is a grease like substance splashed up from the nearside grill behind the wheel arch. Not good.
Is it safe to drive?
Obviously, it's going to need a flush out and replacement fluid... what upgraded fluid should I be going for??????

Cheers Caspy,
All sorted on the phone.
Sounds like a trip to the Monaro 'specialist' again
I'm equidistant between Drive of Bristol and Lookers Birmingham. Tried Drive.... worst than worse. Just called them.... no slots til Thursday next week - cheers.
Lookers said bring it up today (I like them already), but I went for tomorrow morning instead. I'll let you all know how I get on

I have just installed Motul 600 RBF racing brake fluid in my Corvette's uprated braking system. Think this has just about the highest wet and dry boiling point of all the fluids, except perhaps Castrol RBF, but thats serious coin. I have a litre left over, so would it make sense to bleed the Monaro clutch through with it?
Interestingly, the front brake calipers on the Vette have "Made in Australia" cast onto them !! Anyone know whats the connection? Maybe Vettes have HSV brakes? Wierd !!
