Just had a little drag race between lights (on a private road of course!) with a 645.

I was quite surprised, on paper the Monaro VXR should have the edge but in reality there was nothing in it until perhaps 90+

Best get that supercharger

Beemer was probably an auto. On paper it should be slower, but in the real world the new auto boxes are very quick. From the lights, unless I made perfect gearchanges, some of the less fast but auto. cars were hard to beat/shrug off. All they had to was press the pedal down, trick electrics sorted the rest out.
Different story once up & running though ;-)

645i has similar power, torque, weight and performance so it was never going to be like racing a milk float

I notice the Pontiac GTO is quicker 0-60 and 1/4 mile with the auto too! Check It Out

I was thinking of getting a conversion done as I tend to do lots of miles in lots of traffic. The thing is I want to spend the money on power upgrades first!

Just think how suprised he must be that after spending all that money on a BMW he still can not beat a Vauxhall.

I dont know, a 645i can be bought for late 20's now - so in some cases its cheaper than a Monaro

Not on an 06 plate it can't

I wonder how much that auto conversion would cost, hmmm.

Oh, and love that red leather interior on the Pontiac.

why would anyone ever buy a 645? dull dull dull - if you can afford that sort of money and want german reliability surely a 911? a proper challenge to drive - not that aweful looking electronic numb thing of a BMW.

that said i had a 911 (993) and all i got was t@sssers tailgating and racing me from lights :-(

HSV - BMW m5 without the naff image :-)

Watch out for the 650 as they have teh new uprated BMW V8 and they are quicker again!

Also new 335i and 335d (286 bhp and 428 lbs/ft torque by 1800rpm) these will have big mid range that will probably match a modded Ro in real world.
