loads of questions....

what type recomended?(bearing in mind its 530bhp ish)

and what do i need to do to fit one? hard to do?

what pressure do i need to set one at? is there a pressure regulator standard on the hsv?

Bosch 044 8bar motorsport pump? seen this mentioned various places - its an external one and seems very high capacity

any thoughts please?

Fitted HKS 280l/hr in tank pump(ex Skyline) to my ex GTS-R.Modified to fit with fuel pressure feedback.(std about 180)Every lb of boost an extra lb of fuel pressure ,so std fp was about 60 and at max boost I showed abot 75 psi fp.Require FMU to achieve this.Never ever had a fuel problem and A/F always spot on or erred to slight richness for safety.Need correct size injectors also!!

Sometimes believing quoted flow figures can be misleading.

Walbro's claim 255lph which is all well and good and will be capable of supporting 500+ with the right injectors

Bosch claim a paltry 180lph for their 044, and it will wipe the floor over any Walbro pump or pretty much any similar style pump in terms of ability to flow fuel to make power.

But ignoring quoted flow figures for a second... ability to maintain flow at pressure is also important. The Walbro and many others struggles a bit over 6 bar, whereas the Bosch excells.

If you have the right size of injector, then you really shouldnt need to run pressures as high as 60+psi as doing so will put more strain on the pump used, which sometimes can actually make it flow less. If you have a pump that is capable, then fair enough, retain the factory's 58psi setting

At your power level, you could easily buy the right injectors and drop back down to 45-50psi which would give scope for more power, using a wider variety of pump.

replied elsewhere though. You need to decide how far you want to go in terms of makin power, then you can decide what type of fuel setup you need.

I have the Bosch one fitted in a seperate header/reserve tank, I think Mark at LSV has fitted many secondary fuel pumps to lots of marques so his input should be of worth IMHO

If they are fitting a second in-line pipe, I assume they are converting a return style setup with a fuel pressure regulator mounted somewhere ?

If not, how are they controlling fuel pressure ?

on the same topic so i thought i'd resurrect the thread....

right so the tanks coming out to get cleaned - thinking of gettinga new pump fitted (in tank)

i've established that the standard pump is good enough for about 600 ge gees and i have bigger injectors as part of the s/charger set up

i'm getting silly prices for a standard HSV pump

anyone know what spec the walbro in tanks need to be and where i can purchase one? is it a comprehensive kit as well?

oh and another question - fuel pressure - is it read static?

The walbros are verywhere !!!!

ebay, or any Jap shop. Any GS340/341/342 model. The differing numbers refer to different inlet/outlet orientations. No big deal.

Or ask some of the US guys what they fit on their Pontiac GTO's

The Bosh 044 can be used in-tank as well.

just to resurrect this thread.....

been talking to the guys over in the USA re fueling their gto's

they all talk about the standard fuel pump bucket being too small for uprated pumps.

the fix (up to 500 RWHP) is to moddify with a 8.1l hummer bucket with walbro 340 - bigger bucket - so doesnt empty and still allows low fuel levels (drilling holes in the standard bucket makes a mess of it!).

i've fitted a new pump etc - much better but still struggling on full wack! hence the thought of the 8.1l conversion

i have a guy in the USA willing to send over a full - drop in tank conversion for $500 which is cheap when you look at the cost of the bits from GM - anyone else interested?
