Oh man, that's tragic
Another legend is taken from us. I never had the opportunity to meet the man in person, but at least I got to see him in action at Goodwood last weekend.
He was, by all accounts, one of the good guys. Sir, I salute you.
RIP Peter - I hear there are no speed limits in heaven

My family called me this morning to tell me. Ironically, when I got the news about Steve Irwin I remember thinking "At least it wasnt Brocky".
I have a friend competing on the same event (Targa West road Rally) at the moment who I have been in touch with. The road was O'Briens Road. If you love motorsport and live in Perth, you know O'Briens. Mainly because twists and turns are so hard to come by in WA. Its exhilerating but its also a death trap, no questions asked and as with many WA roads, the surface is poor. Ive seen two people bin their bikes there, you can stop on literally any corner and find bike or car wreckage on it. There is a particularly bad left hander that is down hill, off camber and reducing radius that catches many out. I hope it wasnt this one. I *believe* due to only just getting back from Goodwood, he was not able to Recce the course and drove it on pace notes only.
I was thinking that it was ok that I couldnt make the Revival this year cause of a family wedding cause I would catch him there next year.
Ive owned nearly all the Brock merchandise you could get at some stage, had my birthday cards signed by him, my t-shirts, heard him speak for charity etc etc
He was one of the best touring car driver ever in my opinion, a Great Australian and above all a good sportsman. You'd never see him "doing a Longhurst" and moaning or punching other drivers. To him Racing was Racing there was always next time.
Anything I think about signing off with seems desperately inadequate.....
Drive on Pete

Absolute tragedy - what a loss to the motoring fraternity & the community in general. There will certainly be plenty of "pondering" moments when the V8's hit Brockies mountain in a few weeks from now.
Pete you were & still are a legend in the world of motor sport.
Give the ford boys upstairs a bit of a caning

Unbelievable, the world has lost one of it's greatest.
I found out about this a few mins ago in a text from Rob Apsey, mate like the rest of us you must be really hurting.
I had the good fortune to meet Brocky at Goodwood last year with the '84 05 Commodore. He was such a real gentleman.
What a sad day, I hope there is a Bathhurst in Heaven.
