Insurance is a killer isn't it?!
Discussion
I bought my VXR back in March and transferred my insurance over from my old car. Now it's due and I just can't get a deal.
I've tried everyone I can think of and, get this, my BANK is about the best of the bunch (Natwest - £1100).
I know the odds are stacked against me. No garage, no tracker and I'm 27 with an accident against me.
A-Plan, ironically, were the most (£1800).
Anyone else had any trouble? At this rate I'll be selling up instead of modding up.

It's never going to be cheap for a group 20 car but that still seem like a lot. How many years no claims do you have? I too am 27, 3 years NCB, the car (CV8) is parked on the street but in a low risk postcode and I pay sub £900. I imagine VXR premiums will be higher though. I had a slightly higher excess applied when I changed the policy from my Puma but no extra conditions like a tracker.

My VXR was £493, age 32, full ncb, no tracker, car on drive and business use.

Where do you live? The Outer Hebrides?
Berkshire.
Dont you just love insurers that ask you 'whats the best quote you have had so far' before pricing a quote just a tad cheaper
I thank you...

I've got Tracker and Cat1 alarm and my premium is £700, 36 with 4yrs NCB. On renewal, I told Elephant that I'd had the tracker fitted since the insurance was first taken out but was informed that they don't consider it and it wouldn't reduce my premium. But they happily added £25.00 to cover the Wortec Cat back exhaust.
I have 8 years on this car and 4 years on another car (NCB) and my previous car was a 911 (they all seem interested).
The thing is, the 911s insurance was much cheaper - and it was a Porsche!
I live in a low risk area (well, unless that's changed) and blah blah blah. Just a bit miffed as justifying the car is hard enough without these premiums.
Flux weren't interested BTW. They couldn't even find the car listed - they only had the 5.7 and had to do a 'special' quote. Personally I think they wanted me off the phone.

Ring up A-plan and ask for Clare Ironside 01635 874646 and say you have been talking to people on this web site and ask for a descent quote. Im paying £900, 30 years young, 2 year N/C bonus, garaged, good postcode with that and another van both commericial insured.
P.S sorry if this already posted. typed out but cant see listing

I am 28, work in development, do 25k a year (15k class b business travel), 6 points, 2 accidents within 3 years, 5 years NCB, live in Cambridgeshire with the car parked off the road.
I have a standard 04 VXR with a cat 1 alarm, immobiliser and tracker.
Went to confused.com and got Admiral £830 for the year. Bargain!
Highest was over £3k. My advice, shop around and dont accept the first price they quote you. Haggle and it will save you hundreds.

I've bought my hsv gts 2 months ago and insurance prices were crap.i'm 36 7- 1/2 yrs ncb 3yrs on a is200 sport and kept getting £1300.kept getting told you'll never get it any cheaper. a-plan got it down to £800, so its not to bad for a kiwi, most tried to rip me off no end. defo gotta keep on shopping around i reckon ,and as i manage an accident repair paint shop one of our estimators told me insurance companies can't check to see if your cars been remapped anyway, and as long as you dont go to bizarre on the exhaust that shouldnt be a problem either as often a custom one for a hsv is often cheaper than to import genuine.but i got told from 1 company hsv's dont require trackers monaros do, so figure that 1 out...
