Nightmare

Pulled up in Dundee Monday night for my second tank V-Power of the day. (Read a while back some one using 3 tanks of fuel in 3 days, that’s nothing, one round trip to the office for me takes just short of 4 tanks and +/- 14 hours) anyway, could I get the filler cap flap deal open? Nope, no amount of jiggery pokery with the cockpit release leaver would work, felt very slack like inner cable somehow became detached. Bastard of a night, wet and foggy, so not seeing or feeling a quick solution and not having the time to call out a repair man I took the drastic action and cut the cable at the tank end to enable me to get on the inner cable with a vice grips to open the flap. Bad move or what! Any one else had same problem? How easy would it be for me to source/fit another cable myself or would I be covered by the warrantee to get a dealer to sort, anyone know.

It was me with the 3 tanks in 3 days. I've had her just over a week now and fuel bill for the last 8 days was just over £300 - clearly I'm not trying

Also it doesen't seem to matter whether they fuel light/bleeper is on or if the "range to empty" is less than not a lot - every time I fill up it always seems to take £54.54p!

Thats real bad luck with the cable. If you just bought the car I wouldn't see the harm in asking the dealer to send you a replacement cable if you offered to get it fitted yourself. I am sure they would have enough margin in the sale for that as its not unreasonable.

If the cars still under warranty, are you sure the cable didn't just break?

Could well have broken at the leverage end, in fact something must have broke coz it stopped working. Will have to wait till daylight and have a look, still have another 2 weeks of darkness to endure.
