Considering purchasing a Monaro
Discussion
My first post on this forum. I have read several weeks of posts to aquaint myself with info. problems & tuning of the Monaro, now I need to have look and go in one.
If anybody with one, who lives not a million miles away from Camberley, Surrey area, who would be interested to let me come and see theirs, I would appreciate it. There does not seem to be many around at the dealers - which, of course is part of the appeal.
I am tempted by the VXR500, is there any reason to expect the depreciation on this model to be any different from previous models?
T.I.A.

don't even consider it - just do it. Only question should be which model and which colour. Loads of low mileage 2nd hand cars out there to be had that have taken the worst of the 1st few years depreciation - savings can buy you AP racing brakes and a supercharger in most cases and still have change out the price of a new one.

If you work on the basis that the car you are buying is worth circa £31k non supercharged then its a bit of a bargain!!
IMHO Work on it dropping to circa £20-£25k dependent upon mileage in 2 years.
Thats similar to any other sports car you would spend similar money on I guess.

Drive Vauxhall in Aldershot have a silver one for sale at the 'mo, well it was on Autotrader yesterday. Should be able to get a discount as the silver and red ones are slower than black (lights blue touch-paper and stands well back) Ask for Andy Good......he's their Monaro and VX220 expert and a very nice chap (unfortunately, it was only Mrs Twin Turbo's Zafira we bought from him).
Otherwise, as mentioned, Caspy @ Greens is ya man. A little further away, but I've not read a bad word about him on here. He must be easy to spot, as the sun shines out of his bottom

I live near Bagshot, with a blue VXR eating CV8 if that helps - PM me.
have you had the suspension fully upgraded, fitted bigger brakes, a lower ratio diff, tuned engine and tubular headers like an 04 VXR then?
or just had the engine tuned? so many people supposedly run VXR eating CV8's....

Yep Mr Benno sir!
Engine is pretty well tuned, headers, decat, cai etc plus Full APs, and 2 vxr symbols for the ones that failed to out-drag me.
As for the suspension, pretty stock. I have a bad back so reducing a comfortable car to a bone shaker really doesnt appeal thanks. Each to his own I guess.
