Fitting today/finalising and alas the Launch Control does not seem to want to work so a little more work required here. With the traction control fitted but the launch control not working I was not totally convinced that the traction control would work. Paul from Wortec was quite happy with the system (apart from the Launch control) so I thought I would give it a go on the way home.

An interesting set up as you have to manually disable the cars own TC (liability problem having it defaulted to off apparently) and then set the TC setting to what you want from 0 (wet) to 25 (track). I really wanted to test the system so had it on 10.

My trip home pretty much went - foot to the floor in any gear I could to see whether the damn thing was working. Normally the TC is very noticable and you get the graphic display. Nothing noticable at all. I was starting to worry that the system was not working as whatever I did I had total traction all of the time (perhaps the old TC was just rubbish and the car had great grip.....). To cut a long story short (and including some foot to the floor overtaking in second.....) i decided to put the window down, go down to a very low speed and foot to the floor to see if I could 'hear' the deliberate misfires on the engine.

What a donkey I felt - basically the traction control is so unnoticable after the all or nothing standard equipment unless you realy look out for it you don't notice what it does apart from deliver fantastic levels of grip, in all gears.

Even without the Launch Control I feel the mod is worth 10/10. Couple this with the adjustable suspension and the car is just so good compared to the standard set up.

I have to agree with you there but one of the things this car is most acclaimed for is its back to basics barn-door engineering, is this simply moving the monaro back to the realm of the euro/jap boxes that we sneer at? I'll open the can and view the ensuing debate from a safe distance

Don't think it will be taking anything out of the car, what it is doing is giving you the option, depending on what mood you're in,the weather, row with the missus etc.

AM04ARO im glad another monaro has taken advantge of this great bit of kit. I had it fitted
a year ago and the best setting for real mad driving is 4 to 6 in the dry. And leave on wet in the wet. and take full advantge of all that grip. And as for launch control it does work. It just needs a little getting us to. If you have probs get my number of paul. And i will help as much as i can.

I would miss the sudden sideway opposite lock moments that bring home the joys of ownership.
I guess having it adjustable, means you can dial in your own joy though.

I’m also interested in price as well as how you have both had the control fitted in cockpit. Pleased the default is on as my wife drives the car often and she is happier with t/c on.

Hi There,

It sounds like a fantastic toy, especially with winter coming and it being my daily driver. I admit to bricking it thinking about the beast and heading for a kerb. I live on a fairly steep hill you see and it's my first rear wheel drive (never had a problem with almost 200BHP on front wheel cars)

Anyone care to spill the beans on rough cost ??

Cheers
Steven

HOW MUCH yikes

Reason for saying that is that I have been chatting with somebody completey unassociated with PH/HSV.org and was lead to believe that this unit was circa £3k.

Thats bloody good value for money at half the anticipated price!!!

Great stuff thumbup

Day two of testing....and its in the WET!!!!

Foot to the floor and the car accelerates in a straight line. Just like in the dry unless you know its there you would not know it was helping it does not toally stiffle the car like the standard TC.

I don't think its turned the car into an Evo VIII or anything just gives a switchable traction amount depending on what you want. I personally feel that it makes the power delivery easier to handle.
