I've done it - ordered the h9's from consumabulbs.com - 15 quid for the 2 delivered to the door next day as I recall. 5 mins to mod the bulbs. only 10 watts brighter but nearly 2 x the lumens emitted so huge improvement on the standard bulbs.
I remember seeing this thread somewhere but couldn't find it. I have already bought the lamps from consumabulbs.com after reading the thread.. but haven't fitted them yet as I don't know what to mod!
I must say that those chaps that supplied them were everso helpful and even rang to let me know when my order was being despatched.. service in a by-gone era indeed

Hi Chaps,
PCV8 also done this mod and I think I can safely say we both think its a very good mod. These dark nights with the lovely rain it makes a huge difference.
I know PCV8 has also adjusted the height a little but I did not bother.
I also replaced the indicator bulbs with silver ones at the same time, but personal preference (don't all do it, please - LOL).
Cheers

if you do the silver indicator bulbs its also a good idea to paint the orange plastic bulb holders toget rid of the last tinge of orange reflection in the lights.
As far as the light mod - literally all you do is take out the old bulb and compare it with the new one, the new one will have an extra plastic lug in the connector. Without touching the bulb use a sharp stanley knife to cut out the extra plastic lug. Job done - only problem is you do have to loosten the battery mount so you can slide it out the way to do the drivers side - or maybe I've just got fat hands

Ok was out today working on the car and decided to have a go at changing the indicator bulbs. Don't bother trying to spray the orange mounts - the paint really doesnt stick too well them - buy a tin of silver Hammerite or Smoothrite and use that instead of spray paint.
While I was at it I discovered some helpful mechanic in the past has wrecked the plate that is bolted directly onto the +ve terminal, the plate everything else is then bolted to - there's a similiar part on the -ve side as well. Anyone know if these are readily available - just its so bad it turns out my +ve connector has literally been sitting on the terminal unsecured and I'd rather replace it before setting off down the M6 next weekend.

as replacements for the H7's? I'd go for a much cheaper model than that - can easily pick up high performance versions of H7's for under £30 from any motorstore. Reviews I've seen in the past reckoned piaa were overpriced for their bulb performance - paying for the brand name more than anything else.
