...of mixing directionals and unidirectionals on the same axel?
I ask this as (due to my stupidity for not checking) when I collected the car from teh dealers on Thursday they said they had noticed a wobble from the wheels at 50mph but they would look at it before I picked it up.
I picked it up and the wobble was still there and I was unable to get hold of the dealers on friday and saturday still no reply.
So thinking it was something as simple as an imbalance (i still hadnt checked) I took the car to get the balance done. The tyre place showed me that on one side both tyres were unidrectional bridgestones and on the other side both tyres were directionals (fullram or something). Now I was very pissed off at the fact of this, I had seen on one side both were bridgestones and never thought to check teh other side but I do recal something that you must not mix unidirectionals and directionals on teh same axel (or at all) and I wondered if the car was sold in a potentially bad state?
In the end I bought 4 new tyres (very happy with them) and kept the 2 directionals I had taken off as they were pretty much new tyres. I am just unsure as to whether the car should have been sold like this?

It is bad practice to run different tyre treads/brands on any axle and most on here would advise against running different tread between front and rear. I would suggest that although inadvisable the car would be deemed roadworthy by any inspection and therefore would suggest that the dealer has done nothing wrong. It would have been up to you to have the car inspected and request any changes as part of the deal. What tyres did you buy to replace the ones on the car with? Plenty threads on here giving advice on tyre choice and suppliers.
nah as I wasnt realy too bothered until last night when I got to thinking that I am sure I had been told in the past it wasn't allowed, obviously wrong.
Anyway I'm not overly fussed, it was my own fault not to double check all round, I took it on face value when I saw one side that no one would be so stupid to do what had been done.
On a sperate note, the rating of the tyres were Z. Am I correct in thinking they should be W rated or better? I got Y's fitted as they were the only ones available.

simple, the wobble was purely down to balance as you approached 50 it got very shuddery on the steering wheel and then you accelerated throught it. New tyres all round were balanced = problem gone, if not I'd not be driving it and it would be on a traielr back to the garage.
The issue could also have been due to two different manufacture tyres on same axle. Just cos they are both teh same size doesnt mean they are the same profile but that problem would have been prevelant more than at just one speed...

it wasnt a network q garage and I dont want to say their name either as I am overall happy with them
I too purchased mine from a VX dealer. It has bridgestones on 3 corners and dunlop on the 4th. It was probably due to a puncture as the dunlop has lots of tred left and I have just replaced the opposite number for a spanking new one (at a whopping £193!!!).
I havent noticed any problems running the 'odd one out'. I even survived 32 laps around the ring. No wobbles or anything.
I do intend to standardise on the bridgestone boots as quite a few on-line tyre sites where users rated tyres seem to think they were pretty good. but at that price they should be...
