Exhaust question.
Discussion
I bought one............
Sounded better than standard (just) but very 'flabby' sounding if that makes any sense, I dont believe it gave a power gain.If I had heard it first I would have kept my money.
I virtually gave it away on ebay and bought a Wortec. Now I grin like an idiot every time I start it up........

just fitted a Milltek to my 5.7 and have to say I'm very satisfied with it. Bronze colour is appearing on mine - its the heat that's doing it and I'm sure if I attack it with a metal polish it will go a shiny silver colour again. Power gain - exhaust will help but never by very much - believe someone reported around 10-12hp at most whichever option you go for. Better ways of gaining power. Noise - way louder than standard but still civilised when cruising - believe me if it wasnt then the girlfriend would have been bending my ear all the way back up the road yesterday, nearly 400 miles and not a cheep of complaint!! Plenty heads turning as we passed through places like Stamford and Pontefract though so clearly not that quiet. Back boxes out the Wortec exhaust is MUCH louder. The version I went for included the sports cats - I believe the Wortec kits as standard run from the cats back - makes the Wortec header upgrade a bit more expensive as the exhaust is cheaper, the Milltek is dearer to buy and although cheaper to add headers it does require some rework to install the longer headers and move the cats.
sjc - Had LSV fit the Miltek system to my 6.0 a couple of weeks ago and OMG it works!!! The noise is bearable (see a recent thread on this - I wanted it "sensible" as I've done the ear splitting/neighbour upsetting route with the TVR) and as I use it everyday (5000 miles in 2 months) it had to be useable. The mid-range is definately much improved - Before the fit I couldn't stay with my mates 5.0 Chimaera, now I go past him.
The noise is maybe a little less than I thought it would be, but I don't want to atrract too much attenton anyway.
IMHO, Wortec for noise & power, Miltek for power. Don't know where you are, but if you want a comparison I'm sure P7 VXR wouldn't mind pitching his against mine for noise alone????
There's a thread about this every week so you'll have to decide, as it'll be your ££££'s your spending!!!!

I've posted this before but I removed a Milltek and replaced it with a Wortec. There was no noticeable power gain from the Milltek compared to the Wortec which is frankly brilliant, both were mapped. It was as quiet-ish as the OE system, the Wortec is not too noisy at all and zero problems at track days even though I have headers and decat too.
just out of intrest for future reference (I just got a confusing quote from elephant saying that if I just mod the exhaust its an extra 20 quid)...
If I just go for the exhaust its going to be for the noise rather than overall increase in power (happy as it is at minute).
I'm not after asbo levels of noise so its eitehr the wortec with baffles or the miltek. (No comittment to either yet). What sort of price am I looking at for both, just for the exhausts. I might go wortec for the option of swapping baffles etc, but what I want to know is what sort of cost is both system fited?

Surely though it depends on how the re-map is done rather than the manufacturer of the system. LSV do Milltek and re map with noticeable gains (at least I have). As one of the Wortec fitters told me last week "It does not matter about the exhaust whether it's Milltek or Wortec, it's the headers that are the biggest restriction in the system." It appears that exhaust alone does not increase power by that much. Headers next for me and a decent re map and shares in Bridgestone or Continental tyres

I had the Milltek fitted and mapped and was frankly very disappointed on the drive home as really could not tell any perfomance difference to the OE system and it was a 'different noise' rather than the 'proper V8' sound I was expecting. On the drive home from Monkfish after they fitted the Wortec it did everything I originally expected of the Milltek. This was before I had the headers and decat done at Monkfish. It was summed up by my youngest son who was visiting at the time I got home who rushed out and said 'my god that sounds awesome!'

This is odd...With the Milltek fitted and no remap I've seen a marked improvement....How's that work?

Perceived due to different engine note? If you are happy then fair enough, just reporting my experience.
well booked in with Roger to get the wortec exhaust fitted, not planning on the remap and filter yet - saves the £'s and also the insurance hike is 20 quid as opposed to 400 quid for the extra filter and remap!
Am more than happy with cars performance and at the minute this mod is a vanity one, I've always wanted a v8 and now I want the v8 sound - stuff the neighbours, I'm not gonna have the quiet baffles fitted (but will test both first!)
roll on Wednesday
