I obviously have too much time on my hands!

It occurred to me that the VXR500 might be the cheapest way to buy a horsie!

493bhp for £35,995 works out at a mere £73 per horsie.

An Astra VXR (240/£19,120) is close at £79
A Proton Savvy (75/£5,995) is also £79
Focus 2.5ST (225/£17,520) is £77

I can't really find anything else close scratchchin

With a bit of haggling, I believe you can get a Mustang GT in deluxe spec (base interior) for £23k which gives you a close £76 per gee-gee.

However, even if you pay a "worst case scenario" £27k for a Mustang GT Premium and pay £4500 for the 462hp Vortech (fully fitted) blower, the gee-gees tumble to £68 each. On a base-spec GT, they would cost £59.52.

If you do what I did and pay less than £20k for a car with 2000 miles on the clock, that's less than £52 each but that's cheating.

If you bought a late registered '04 cv8 earlier this year no haggling £24k, then sportspac for £1.6k this would give £65 per pony, then if you add superharger and AP brakes only sensible at this stage for £5k would give £62 per pony with a very comfortable interior.

So that means you are dropping the price of the VXR500 to under a £1000.

But you still have to get it into the UK...so add shipping, insurance, duty, vat....

£31.5K landed fully inclusive by my maths , that makes it £63 per bhp and steals the crown.

In theory but not in practice because you can't buy them for list. Plus you don't get full excahnge rate on money transfers to the US, just the "holiday money" rate. Besides, it has a way to go to supercharging your own UK-sourced Mustang GT - "On a base-spec GT, they would cost £59.52" but perhaps I should add that this is for a polished finish Vortech. If you take the satin finish, it's even less.
