This week's Autocar claims Cadillac is preparing a small RWD saloon to take on BMW's 1-series. Rather than a cut-down Zeta platform though, they claim GM are planning to adapt the Delta platfrom. Delta is actually FWD with a 4x4 option. GM seem to think it'll be cheaper/easier to convert this to RWD than using Zeta. Seems odd, but I'm no engineer

Anyway, whilst this is planned as a Cadillac, with a view to Global sales, I reckon such a car would do well over here, badged as either a Vauxall or indeed a Caddy. I think the 1-series is unique in being a small RWD saloon. This would be great with a 3litre v6.

The Autocar article uses images of the Holden Torana concept, which I'm sure would have been repected a lot more if they hadn't painted it pink!!

I guess my main question is this. Are Holden planning a cut-down Zeta platform for the new Torana? If so, surely there are cost benefits in using this platform across the various marques, rather than taking Cadillac's route, above?
