AP brake conversion
Discussion
Hi,
I've just ordered the AP brake conversion.
Who has this conversion on their VXR?
Does anyone have any pictures for fronts and rears I can see?
Apart from the brakes being sh1t hot, does anyone find any annoyance?. ie. droning, noises at low speeds etc?. Just want to weigh up the plus' against the minus?
thanks
Mike

I haven't gone down this avenue yet - but a few that have say there is an increase in brake dust on the wheels = more cleaning.
I'm split 50/50 on whether to spend the money as I have never (inshalla) overwhelmed my VXR brakes on the road. If I did any track days, then I might consider it.

I dont think the standard brakes are that great. Even with increased use on the road they drone and start to fade somewhat.
Just want to make sure I am getting the full benefit without niggly issues like noise etc...
Would like to hear other people's experience.
I am planning the supercharger upgrade in the next few months.
Regards,
Mike

I have the kit on my HSV I have driven about 4k miles since I installed them at the end of July. There are no noise, rumbles or any issues to report. The combination of pad and calliper makes a very smooth set up. The harder you push the peddle the quicker you stop! I had the Harrop 4 pot brakes before and they are a step up both in stopping power and reliability ( I used to have to strip down the Harrops every 6 months to make them work again).
I have had the AP's for about 3 years & 40,000 miles, on 4th set of pads with discs still in good shape, did a 160-0 at Bruntingthorpe once, absolutely awesome, brakes were fried for about 30 minutes but it proved just how quick you could stop if you had to, won't replicate again (unless I have to) but it gives confidence to drive quicker without brake application.
Brakes were my first mod, engine second, suspension 3rd

is it the same pack as seen on the monkfish site?. I presume so....

No problems with them at all....apart from the additional brake dust
In normal braking mode, you can still feel the additional force so you tend not to press the pedal as hard, making braking a bit smoother.
As for High Speed Hard Stops (M/Slip roads etc), when you stamp on the pedal, not a lot seems to happen initially (5-10 metres) but as soon as you got heat in there, your eyes will try to exit their sockets.

As others have said the only problem is increased brake dust but it's a very small price to pay as the brakes are superb and way way better than standard items! I had a slight issue with a bit of squealing on light brake applications when i fitted them (did it myself) but after a few miles (and a track day lol!) it went away. I also did the braided hoses so would recommend those not sure if it's included in some of the upgrades.
