Moved a jacket that had been in the rear passenger footwell for the last week only to find it was soaking wet and the carpet soaked.

The coat was dry when I threw it in there so I have to ask:

1.) Is there a known fault of water in the rear passenger footwell?
2.) I was thinking maybe it was some form of condensation that was trapping under the coat whilst the aircon was on
3.) There has been torrential rain up here in sunny Oldham over the last few days - wonder if this could attribute to it?

The surrounding areas were dry so water has to have come in from the bottom and it is only in the very shallow recess area of the actual footwell - the footwell behind the passenger seat. The one behind the drivers seat is bone dry.

I have dried it all out and will monitor it but any guidance greatly received.

There's a bulletin out about this I believe, and there was a thread on this very subject a couple of months ago (though I can't find it).

It's to do with the way that part of the car is sealed underneath, i.e. not enough. A known problem on some cars, and a warranty job.

That's all I can find, the search facility seems to be producing odd results.

That is the thread from when dad had his done, the issue is the rear wheel arch lining if i remember correctly. Someone with access to the TSBs will be able to confirm this though

That will be me then....

Stuff in these threads about it here and here

Had the same problem last Easter. Cleaning the car when I came back from holiday I noticed the damp carpets behind the from passenger seat so I took it to the dealer. They reckoned it was the door seal and ordered one. They had it for over a week and replaced all the carpets and mats as well. Next time it rained I had a swimming pool in the back. So back it went. They had the car for over 4 weeks plugging all the holes where water can get in and another new set of carpets.

I then had to go back another two time for them to fix all the faults they put on!!banghead

Apparently there are several places where the water can get in and there are service bulletins on the subject.

thanks all, well at least now I know but I dont want to run the risk that monkey did and have it out of my hands for 25 days!

There are two monaro places close to me, Drive (I think its them) in Bristol or there is somewhere down near Wallingford that is selling a lot of Monaros. Will try and book it in tomorrow and after reading that other thread, should I expect a decent courtesy car?

And you'll have to insure it yourself!

When mine went in for the second time I pointed out that I hadn't paid £30k for a new car to drive around in a Corsa. So they initially Hired for me a Zafira and then VX fleet arrange for me to have a new Vectra 2.2 NAV Estate.

Hi there,

new here, well just joined to add to this post.

Had exactly the same (last week) and took it to greens and £120 later and it's fixed. Twas the door membrane or somit rubbery, probs a bit of plastic sheet. All done now and leak free.

had to pay as done six million thousand miles and me warranty is well not there, gone, evaporated, dead, died, wot warranty, you get the idea.

Also on a side note had a drive of their, one of their screw charged cars with a quickshifter (only wanted to try the quick shifter) but now I want one, sorry need a super charger, my god. Was going to get some Nos but was £3k plus a remap sp charger it is.

Anyone drift their car?

It's all I try and do, have a vid but, how do you post that?

Del.

I presume I can just go to a local dealership rather than my nearest vxr dealer?

I think it has to be a Monaro dealer unfortunately. Handily there's one just up the road from me in Luton, I don't know how good they are though.
