I must admit to once owning a Seat Ibiza Disco.

Ugh.

Slow, rattly, smokey and scary to drive.

Fiat Brava...hire car that drove awfully...and I stuffed it on the way back to the airport

Have owned / driven far less sophisticated machinery (Metro x2, AX, Fiat Panda etc) all of which was MUCH better...

I once drove a Yugo 55A, was gutless, didn't handle and looked cheap both inside and out. Was good fun though, and considering it cost less than we would spend on an upgrade was worth the money.

Worst car I have ever driven? A Fraud Focus 1.6 when I was on holiday, I think they had de-tuned it but it would not even go up hill (admittedly a steep one) with 4 up!

Chrysler 180 auto,

astounding in-built un-reliability in a package that looked (and drove) like an en-larged version of the Chrysler(Hillman) Avenger.
It made Italian cars seem like a better alternative.

Biggest piece of crap the French ever put together.

The worst was a Morris Ital that my dad got as a loan car from a Volvo garage, no rear grip, it was dangerous. The most dissapointing was a Mecades C class that I got as a hire car, It was my first time driving a Mercedes and I was expecting something special but it was rubbish. No feel of what it was doing in the bends and it mooed like a cow when I accelerated, nothing special or interesting about it in any way.

Citroen Visa with intermittent brakes (not a factory option apparently). Bought it for £300, sold it (with new occasional brakes) for £160. Never again. Though I cant help thinking the main reason that was such a shed was for the simple fact it was old and knackered and when looked at objectively, it wasnt such a bad car.
If I think about the car I found least lived up to my expectations (or ONE BIT of its marketing hype) it was when I drove a 2001 VW Golf. It was a 2litre but it felt as responsive and poky as a 1.3 Austin Maestro I once owned. Completely un-engaging to drive, no power, no handling - a completely mind-numbing experience and very dissapointing. I can only assume that up until the most recent model (which I havent driven but heard good things about) VW must have sold these on their reputation to people who hadnt actually owned one of the old (apparently better) models.
Unfortunately I used to live in an over-grown mining town where "European" meant "good", a VW salesman was a pillar of society who is allowed to bless your child and if you owned a 7 series BMW you probably had the keys to the city.
When I bought the 156 2.0 T.Spark, people thought Id won the lotto cause they didnt know what it was but it looked expensive (there are very few Alfas in Perth and as with VW, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Ferrari and Land Rover, only one dealership where you can buy them). Fact was, many of their Holdens and Toyotas had cost them more. Damn hick-town.

About 3 years ago, a Kia Rio - had bought the wife a new citreon and were waiting for delivery so was a lone car from the dealer
Don't want to sound ungratefull, but, slow as to make walking seem like a possible idea, I think it had a 1.4 petrol engine - maybe only 1 cylinder was working - handling tuned by Fly-mo - std monaro brakes
This thing was dangerous!yikes

when the focus came out (fantastic car) I had the misfortune of experiencing the 1.4 version. The car was too heavy for the engine. I was coming back from Gatwick I believe after some business and work saw fit for this car. Lovely place to be inside but I was being overtaken by trucks on one long drag of a hill on the m25. Changing down a gear did not help

The worst car I've owned was a Wartburg 312. 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine and Column Change 4 speed gearbox with a "Free wheel" option.

It was my very first car and I loved it to bits at the time but on reflection it was nothing more than a brick on wheels. And a smokey one at that!

The car that least lived up to my expectations was a 2001 Vectra 2.6 CDX. God I hated that car with a passion. Had no get up and go, lousy throttle response and the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. Only had it for about 6 months but I cannot complain too much. Having come back from holiday in it the misses hated it so much she booked me in at the local Vauxhall dealer for a test drive in a new car. A Monaro and the rest is history

When I first met Mrs V8D back in 79, her mum had a Skoda favorit Labia, or something. It was without doubt the most horriblest hateful car ive ever driven. Wont list everything cos it was all bad. Taught my wife to drive on it, and to stop her pulling onto a r'bout in front of something, I grabbed the handbrake - and literally tore it out of the floor! What a piece of junk.

Yugo 45A (i think) in racing red.

No power and cornering at anything 'speedy' would make passenegers think it would tip over (one actually threatened to thump me if I did not slow down he was that worried ). Had it as a courtesy car.
