Sorry to see /hear that. At the risk of " now you
tell me " my bro-in -law has had the same thing happen with the same result of Tom-Tom nicked recently. Apparently the latest ploy for the thieving scum is when they see the brackets/ holders for the portable Sat-Navs etc they assume the owner has hidden it somewhere in the car rather than carry it.
Hope it all gets sorted.

I borrowed a sat nav kit recently to try it out on the Silverstone trip and was very conscious of removing the bracket and the unit every time I left the car. Couple of screen wipes to remove the ring mark from the glass as well. Its quite a common problem up here with cars getting broken into on the off chance the unit is left in the glovebox. Every week local paper is full of reports of this type of thing. I'll bet no-one saw or heard anything as well and despite the streets being covered by CCTV it wont have caught the incident either. As for replacement glass - dealers like Greens are best bet or try LSV, Monkfish etc as they have been known to have spares in stock.

Sat Nav? Surely not Bob!
Did Deanne go on strike?Should have left the Mrs in guarding it like at Silverstone, really bad luck mate.
Makes you sick though that tossers go round doing this kind of thing and the response from the police is to erect a speed camera or (insert own rant here).
I did hear that some thieves are sophisticated enough to have equipment that can detect laptop batteries - wonder whether it works for satnav too?

anyone thought of fitting a web cam in the car? Ive been caught by exactly the same trick in my other car. One other thing you can do is fit an after market alarm, that has movement detectors inside the car. You can get cheaper insurance (mine paid for itself in the first year. I know it wont stop the crime but at least the alarm would go off

Just found this following a pm from MOSE on Tyresmoke. Sorry I didn't spot his message earlier - I was out all yesterday and only got back online this morning.
MOSE asked if I would be able to assist as I work for Autoglass HQ. Not in the office today, hence I cannot give you an exact order time, but as mentioned above, glass certainly will not be stocked in the branches. It will be stored centrally in the UK in our Leicestershire warehouse however. Glass sadly cannot be delivered overnight Sunday-into-Monday, so I would say Tuesday at the very very earliest. Branch-Only for this rare Monaro - a job for the branch head tech' to work on under-cover with access to all the manuals, tools, second pair of hands etc. Your closest depots will be Slough and Bracknell.
Autoglass have account all major UK insurers, hence you nowdays you only have to pay your glass excess, usually 50, 60 or 75 pounds. Hopefully you have already got the ball rolling, but if not, please don't hesitate to post any questions! The office is of course open today if you wish to call and order. My only tip would be say you have the car safely garaged (by the looks of your photo). There is no point in someone calling you back after three hours saying 'we don't have that in stock tonight sir' when you already know that.

PS. Old Windsor - small world - that's where I was Wednesday night with MOSE, Boss VXR and others....

Sorry to hear that.
Some
smashed my Alpina window a week or two ago to steal my satnav.
And of course BMW have cocked up the replacement so it has to go back again.
I was initially worried about the "Home" setting but don't think it's a cause for concern. Maybe if you were driving a Bentley or a Fezzer or something they might have thought it was worth a go. Plus of course people that do this sort of thing are lazy and stupid. It would probably be beyond them to make the effort.

Maybe Caspy could help?
As for the sat nav, well, I for one will be reprogramming the "Home Address" to a local vicinity rather that my front door
