Hi chaps and chapesses...

I've been asked to post this here as a few of you Supercharged guys might be interested.. not sure a stock VXR with 400hp will be any good for 150+ in such a distance - or I'd go!

www.VauxSport.com are looking for about a dozen cars to come along to brunters, be tested properly with Datron gear for specifically top speed up the striaght but also hopefully some 0-60 and quarter times etc too.

Im hoping to get at least partial funding for the day, so cost to people attending will be somewhere between nothing and not a lot.

Im looking for cars that are contenders only really, if you arent likely to be doing 150mph+ on the straight, then this particular day wont be for you.

If people could either post this text, or a link to this thread on any related websites they use, it would be much appreciated

Total Vauxhall have expressed an interest in featuring the day in the magazine too, so should be good exposure for people who come along .

Anyone interested needs to visit the forum at www.VauxSport.com to apply

Heres where to apply:

I managed 153mph at Brunters so I imagine a 6.0 VXR would be good for maybe 160mph, the supercharged boys 175+. I don't know exactly how much power I've got but I'd guess 360-370bhp (Gazboy's 360bhp Supra got a very similar result).

However they do have tight noise restrictions so those with straight through exhausts may have problems.

Well it's always an idea of a meet - and I might have a thrash. I doubt I'll even have my exhaust done let alone the 'charger. I just hope I'm still an owner come March.

tiler should be the man for the day, doubt if anything else will get close, been to Bruntingthorpe before, maxed about 155 when the GTS was standard, I doubt if it would get past 170 even with 570 brake, been ejected too for noise on a warm up lap sp those with noisey exhausts will need to check first IMHO

Well we have some interest - it's worth finding out whether any of us can run or not - I might be the best person to run ironically

I don't think tiler's 6L+ Monaro is too noisey for the job so my money is still on him, I reckon he will get past 185 mph too

87.5dB on drive by and 98 dB static.

we've been investigating doing the same exercise to really see (and hear) what all the various modified vehicles can do.

We may go ahead with Astras etc... but the V8's may cause an issue. Still discussing options though.

Makes you wonder what the point is of all this power if you can't at least take it somewhere safe and legal to use it - the powers that be hark on about it all day long and yet we're still 'possibly' excluded.

This annoys me.

You can...you just have to ensure your car meets the noise requirements.

98db at idle shouldnt be that hard to pass. I know my car is circa 104/105db, 0.5m from tailpipe at 45degrees, tested at 4500rpm car stationary, and its fairly loud.
Dont know what it is at idle.

Drive by would probably be a tad louder though, if its a WOT thing. Volume does increase quite a bit, to the ear anyway.

Odd, as I tested a friends Viper, and at 4500rpm static, it was over 120db. yet when its goind up the track, to the ear, my car defo sounds louder.

Just go with your car and show how your car runs on the road. With out it being hampered
like a jack in a box with the heating on. Just to prove a point.

I'm not sure what point is proved if the car is rejected for being too noisy other than maybe the V8 owners don't read the rules properly?

confused

I'd love to go but I'm not wasting a days pay if it's going to be fruitless.
Keep us up to date please Stu?

Looks very interesting.

Kind of makes the odd more mod more appealing.

The links you need are in the first post - although it may be worth us doing something as a group?
