Miltek system installed
Discussion
Just gotten back from having a new set of upgrades over at LSV.
Had the full exhaust, filter and remap (basically the stage 1).
Originally was going to have a wortec sport pack installed but due to originaly a quality issue and then just timing for eitehr me or installer just not matching up it didnt work out - no fault to them (Monkfish) and big thanks to the lads for not doing the original install even though they could have quite easily done so. Also they did give a lot of great advice and steered me away from my original idea of just getting the exhaust and foregoing the remap.
I was looking forward to the noise of the wortec but recently have been doing long late night runs and figured I definitely wouldnt want the noise I heard about, even though I could have the silencers installed. From reading around and speaking to Jeff I decided upon the Miltek install.
I have to say the noise is very nice and not offensive. It is very audible in the car when on the throttle but not annoyingly. Outside the car it sounds very nice too, just as it should do but without being too loud - anyone considering the system should not be put off by the claim that it is quiet - it isnt!
The car went onto the dyno before any work was done and was showing 337bhp at the fly and around 270rwhp. After the work was done a and the new map installed the car now makes 360bhp at the flywheel and 290rwhp. It may not sound like a huge difference but it really translates to a much much more drivable car - the car now seems to use the traction control much more than it was doing in the wet and is certainly a lot crisper in every gear.
Where as before I would change from 4th to 3rd at 40 to give it a boot I dont find I need to now, definitely worth every penny and I'd say to anyone looking at modifying to consider the Miltek system - just dont write it off!
The noise is great, the car is much improved.
I think the real bonus is the new torque lines

Have been thinking about an exhaust for mine (O4 CV8) for sometime when finances allow - like your original idea, without the remap (insurance hassle etc)- can I ask how you were steered away from just going for the exhaust? And did you listen to both Wortec and Miltek before making your decision? If so would be interested to see how you thought they compared - is it just a volume thing or tone as well? (used to drive American V8's so just looking to get the proper "rumble" back - nothing to ott). The torque curve does look nice!

Well I spoke at length with Roger at Monkfish regarding the Wortec kit. He strongly advised having the remap as without it the engine performance is effected and I believe it could lead to problems - seriously I would only consider getting the system with a remap.
WRT Miltek noise, it certainly has a nice note but cannot give a comparison to the Wortec - what I do know is the Wortec is louder without the silencers in, the difference between the two will be down to taste. The Miltek comes with high flow cats instead of being a cat back which may be something to consider. What you will find is 90% of members seem to have the Wortec, that doesnt mean it is any better or the Miltek any worse. I am glad I got the system as I now think from speaking to members that the Wortec can drone at 2000rpm (motorway cruise speed) - look at it like this I was mainly after a noise increase rather than performance and I am VERY happy with the result. Off throttle you can barely hear in the cabin but on throttle it has a lovely deep note and on WOT is very noticeable.
I was set on the Wortec based on its popularity and only after a few uncontrolable delays (no ones fault)had I spoken to LSV who had the Miltek in stock. I then went back and did more research on the two and was happy with what I was reading and started to think it might fit my requirements more. The great thing with the Wortec is that it has replaceable baffles if you want to alter the note, the miltek is fixed tuned at 99dB.
There are claims that the Wortec does give more performance but the only dyno graphs I could find of a stock car upgrade was for Jeff's 04cv8 (also a Miltek). Any power difference will really be negligable but if somone with an 04cv8 and Wortec Sportpac could post their before and after results that would offer the best comparison power wise.
The difference IS noticable
Thanks for the info – my concern has always been the effect on the engine of fitting a performance exhaust without adjusting the fueling to take account of the improved air flow (always recommended with motorbikes) – my current enquiries however have told me that the engine management system would take care of that and adjust itself (didn’t think to ask whether that would effect (reduce?) performance)…..trouble is I tend to prefer my cars standard (this one is the exception) and I only want to change the noise – not the performance! I am not that technically minded but do you happen to know whether the high flow cats would make the remap more necessary? My current enquiries have related to the Wortec system but I have not excluded other possibilities.
Have to say, without wishing to upset those with the Wortec system, your set up (remap aside) does, from what you are saying, sound as if it may be an option to consider further given that I am just after the right noise. I have to ask (and I appreciate you may not wish to comment) was there any price differential between the two options (Milltek v Wortec)?
Oh, and apologies – one last question – did it make much difference insurance premium wise?
Thanks again for the info

insurance it does make a difference, about £70 (am with A-Plan via this forum not the local A-plan broker = huge difference) Also ride bikes too and understand where you are coming from but trust me the performance difference IS something you will want, it just crispens the car up to how it should be out of the box.
The cost was similar for both but you are best talking direct to both. There is a sound clip of Jeff's miltek but it doesnt do it any justice.
Try and listen to both, speaking to Roger he said it will work in principle but is fluffy without a remap.
A surpised theres been no response to the thread really

I've had just the Wortec remap done at Monkfish and even that by itself is very very noticeable. The throttle response is vastly better.
Subject to Christmas bonus I'll be looking at an exhaust system and Ripshifter in the new year. I'd love to see/hear/ride in your car stig so I can get an idea of what the Miltek is like. I want to keep the cruising refinement but have a definate musclecar rumble at idle and roar on WOT.

To stop idiotic vauxhall dealers re-setting it and ruining the map I would imagine, plus it stops other interested parties from stealing their map (not suggesting they would but it's just added insurance!).
LSV also lock their map but will remove the password or tell you what it is if you ask or as mine set it to your own password. Will the Wortec dealers do this if you have your own EFiLive kit and want to play with the tune, I'd certainly hope so because otherwise you are tied to always using them for mods/tunes. LSV say they started doing this after someone was spotted at a show plugging in their kit and downloading maps from everyone's cars. What use exactly someone else's map is I don't get as the one on mine is setup specifically for my car and would not perform very well for most others. Anyone wants to install a generic map to deal with better exhaust etc can download clubsport and hsv tunes from the web and have them uploaded - the clubsport one is meant to be a big improvement for example even on a standard cv8, the hsv one is only for those that have gone mafless.

Got a Miltek on mine (without a re-map as far as I know). Not noticed any fluffyness

Yours will probably be the Vauxhall/Milltek exhaust then rather than the LSV/Milltek? 2 different animals

Where are all the Wortec dyno charts then? Interested to see the befores and afters but no one seems to be willing to show? (apart from BO55
). It works well on the LS1GTO forum for comparable tunes and to see differences in torque etc. from car to car. And before any of the Rolling road critics start venting their dump valves, a before and after mods on the same rolling road does show the differences even if the figures mean zilch!
