What do you have to do to get a mortgage in this country?

I have applied for a mortgage 5 times now paid out all the expenses and for the bloody bank to come back with you earn enought money but not realy happy that you stopped a cheque.. whats that all about when it comes down to it isnt that what its about that you can afford to pay for it.. Another time the English computer system says no. Cant believe my luck has someone got a voodoo doll of me or what?

You need to move into a council estate, your part of the the way there too with two kids, but unfortunately you will need to tell them that they have different fathers.. (they do look different don't they?)..

Ah, man, totally agree with you... If you come from Poland or some other EU country, bet you that they wouldn't have a problem. Ah man, feel for you.. sometimes you wonder why you bother in this place. I am getting to the point where I just want to pack up and just buggar off home.

Customer service is crap, and what is this rubbish where people can buy houses from underneath you, even though you have a contract, (which means nothing).

You might want to consider dealing with St George. I believe that they can offer a loan over here. Anyhow, would check it out.

Is your issue affordability or residency?. There is an answer/solution to both, either for the forum or via PM.

Genuinely not after your business at all cos my company dont do purchases (we specialise in remortgages) but 16 years experience in the industry, if there is an answer I can probably find it for you or point you in the right diection. Just trying to help another 'petrol head' out......

do they give you the money back if the application is unsuccessful?

only advice I can give is;

1) dont touch the Abbey, they are less than useless

2) Bristol & West make things very easy

I have found the same thing, mortgage, business finance and car finance. If I knew this 2 years ago I would have brought my Berlina over with me.

hey guys first of all no residency issues full UK passport bascially they wont believe what i earn even though bank statements, payslip and letter from employer states this so once they get it into there heads they just keep looking and dreaming up stuff i have been approved for these morgages but once it gets to final leg it falls apart which is where it is costing me money. We both love it here ans dont have any intention returning to Oz but geez what a mission in getting credit. If only everyone was treated the same..........
