Time for the 10k service
Discussion
You may remember in my "hello I'm a newbie to the Ozzie lump" threads I had brought up the service side of things and how that would affect the warranty with me residing over here in NI...well...
The car is now at 10,100 or so miles (cleared 10k at the weekend), I spoke with my local dealership around the 9k mark and they were to make sure they could do the work etc, well after much chasing them around I finally got a hold of the service manager who said that he was told by the regional dude that it would have to head to one of the dealerships in England or the single Scottish dealership in Eddie-Burger as they have no way of ordering up the required parts (as they're not a recognised dealer/service spot for the car).
So I'm now trying to get my hands on the guys in Edinburgh to see if they will let me order the parts either direct from them and delivered to my house or to the dealership over here and then have the local dealers do the change (which they ARE allowed to do - how randomly mad is the system that they can't order the parts but they can change them and do the service/stamp the book)...
Sorry, in rant mode today

Belmont in Edinburgh - rearrange these words to make well known phrase "barge touch not 10ft with pole" at least not if you want to avoid staying in rant mode for weeks to come. Number of people of here have had previous experience of their service - mechanic is alright but surrounded by idiots.
I kinda trust the head mechanic here in the local dealership as he's not afraid to have me assisting with many of the bits n bobs that've needed done on previous VX's I've had (Coupe Turbo, GSI etc) as I'm an multi-skilled engineer to trade and have no fear getting my hands dirty. Hopefully I can have them send the parts, waiting on word back from them now...

Why not get your local dealer to give us a call and we will send the bits required for a service ??
Who should I get the guys to ask for? I'll give them a holler and if they haven't already sorted things with the crowd in Eddie Burger I'll put them on to you guys

Many thanks, will get on the blower to them now
Edit: info passed on there now and they should be in touch soon (Eakin Brothers, Londonderry is the dealers that will be ringing).
Many many thanks once again
*My current rant is now officially switched off*
