Looks like about £9750 worth of LHD Ponitac GTO with some mods.
Not bad, plus its an auto!
In fact thats pretty cheap.

Word of warning to any one looking at this car from the UK. It will need to be registered in the UK, which could cause issues (LHD,auto, none standard brakes and suspension). The GTO is of a lower spec to the UK CV8 you will need to understand the deficiencies. Have a look at a front view of the car, make sure you are happy with the dodgy Pontiac styling. On the up side insurance might be cheaper as its LHD. Also you may be looking for an auto which is another plus.
The 3/4 clutch pack isn't up to much and usally goes first. Then as you beef that up, other parts start failing - like the sun shell - then more power will break the input shaft and drum. Early 4 pin plannets broke too.
To be fair, the later boxes are better - the 4l65e has 5 pinion plannet gears, but still the weak 3/4 - but thats an easy upgrade. I guess it comes down to traction or rather the lack of it that keeps them working longer in 2wd, when used in 4x4 apps (like mine) they break more readily. After breaking mine 3 times, it looks like ive finally found a good combination of parts that holds up in a [low] boosted 4x4 application.

So let me try and get out all the information that I can remember without condensing it down to an advert.
- 2004 Pontiac GTO with Auto - Black exterior and Red leather interior. First GTO in Germany. 47,XXX miles on the clock - 40 + miles added every work day. Daily Driven to and from work - Mobil 1 Synthetic every 3,000 miles. Predator Tune (w/ tuner included) SLP Exhaust (with resonators installed / Bullet Mufflers sitting in basement - Complete Borla Exhaust in storage) Spoiler removed - sitting in basement, small crack (1cm) in spoiler - associated door dings (about 3 or 4) on body - Tapped van last month at a light ruined right headlamp (broke mounting point) debating spending money to fix this - Maybe time to upgrade to Front Bumper Cover from JHP. Would make front very similar to VXR - Intake pipe upgraded to Carbon Fiber - 2 sets of stock rims w/ summer and winter tires - upgraded to Wilwood 6 pot front rotors - Upgraded rear rotors to 05 GTO rotors (vented) - Pedders Street Suspension (www.peddersusa.com) - small things like silicone wipers and higher output foglights installed - JHP Bluetooth phone kit installed - Things bought but NOT installed: Side marker lights (should be a must have for conversion to Brit specs) 2 x Guages for center dash - Cam kit with all pulleys / springs / belts / pushrods ($700 value) - Rice Factor: Installed 6 x Strobes in vehicle for *show*, non functioning fault somewhere in system unsure where - 2 types of Front Bumper Cover grill inserts (stock & appearance package) - 2 x rear taillights (extra)
Known defects: Suspension. When braking on the autobahn (sometimes) the suspension begins to shudder. It's not rotor warpage as I've replaced all that...twice. It has to do with the front hubs and I'm not about to get into that. I figure you guys with Vauxhall dealers would be able to find a competent dealer to address the issue. This is my biggest concern but it's not something that would show up in an inspection. The battery at some point will need replacing.
I think that's it...It's been a reliable DD and I love it to death...but it's time to move on. Audi has some really interesting cars on the horizon and I'd like to look at some of them. I'm unwilling to sell to an American as the type of people that would like to buy this car...can't...while the guys that frequent this forum can...and have access to the expertise to fix the minor things wrong with it. If someone were to try and make it an all out strip car...this would be the one to choose. Hope this helps.
