high speed stability

Out of interest from any of the members that have approached the top speed...

how did the car behave? Also does anyone know if the cars design was given any real consideration of speed? I ask as the 350z was given zero lift, rather than creating loads of down force they created a package that resulted in no lift instead (if that makes sense)

Just been wondering about this and whether there is anything available to improve things (if needed)?

Have always felt the driver was the weak link at 69.5mph, didnt ever feel the car was getting wayward, on saying that I did have lowered suspension. My original 04 CV8 and VXR were fine at 160+ in Germany and they were stock suspension wise.

My car was fine in the summer in Germany at 150+, it does have upgraded suspension though. The year before there weren’t any issues with standard suspension.

On the way back from Le Mans on French m/way I hit 180 mph and decided to 'buzz' the porker & supra that were in our convoy, this meant heavy braking beside them, very stable outside of light steering, literally blew the other cars away (supra had to use hard shoulder).

I had over 150mph out of mine at Bruntingthorpe and it was fine, didn't really feel like it was lifting or wandering. The runway is very wide though which would reduce any feeling of wandering.

The monaro is awesome at high speed, really comes into it's own.. We had a sting on the autobahn, and it just stuck to the road. The commodore is a different story, it is fine at high speed, as long as you don't have any wind around.

thats good to know. Its just I know the Z was designed specifically for it but wasnt sure so much on a family car being given much thought despite the whopping great v8 in it. Course I dont intend to find out on the public road but a little slip on the go pedal yesterday saw me see 120+ without realising - this was on heathrow runway 1 at the time...

i tell you the traffic signage down there is terrible

The car is stable at vmax.
Naturally not much movement required at the wheel.
The front of mine is lowered also which helps high speed stability.
