Is your heater any good?

I've noticed during the cold weather that my cabin heater (having not touched it before now) for want of a better way of putting it, is !*?t. Have any other people noticed this? I've checked the vacuum unit and it appears to be operating correctly. Just wondered if it might be worth back flowing the heater core etc to see what comes out. The coolant is clean and maintained regularly but it never really gets hot in the cabin. Is this a HSV thing or is my car playing silly buggers with me?

No probs with mine - always gives out loadsa heat quite quickly too after start-up! As for Santa bringing toys, he dropped a couple of Holden sill plates off for my CV8 & 4 really nice wheel centre caps too! Apart from the centre of the steering wheel, transformation from Vauxhall back to Holden complete!
Remove that last Griffin!!! Then all will be right again!
I'm going to flush the heater matrix this morning and see what comes out. The dash controls are working as the temp does change (from cold to warmish) and the vacuum control under the bonnet is moving through full travel.

Sorry for the delay Neil - Santa got the caps from Geoff@jhp.com/au for £50-ish (might be £60!) for 4 off...Pt # 92092761. I got them delivered to an Oz mate who was there at the time & he brought them back to sand-land to me...I'd give the web site a look 'cos they do 'competetive' shipping to UK! As regards the bonnet badge, you'll have to ask booster (previous owner of my car) 'cos he's done the rest of the badeging! Haven't fitted them yet - waiting for some good weather to do sill plates too...which links nicely to:-....

Is the temperature low across all mode settings, or just auto? Mine seems weak on auto, but works fine when on the "head & feet" setting.

The sill plates on mine (05 CV8) were just stuck on with large adhesive pads. I got mine off by using a hairdryer to heat them up and levering up one end until I could pull it slooowly off bit by bit (moving the hairdryer along as I did so - completely bent/ruined the old plates).
The new sill plates came with the adhesive pads already attached so just peel off the paper and stick on! Can be tricky getting the alignment right before they touch/stick to the car. Good luck.
Thanks for that bacv8 - I needed a pair of pliers to grip the strips 'cos they would have cut me fingers to ribbons...cold glue & no hairdryer!! Left a line of old white polish at one end to align new one properly then borrowed next doors hairdryer to get old adhesive off...not easy! All done now...just the pesky steering wheel logo now...can't find one!
This is gonna sounds really sad but I prised off the disc in the centre of the steering wheel, sanded it smooth (took ages), painted it metallic black to match the car colour and put it back on. The difficulty was I bent it slightly getting it off and it was murder trying to bend it back into its original shape, which I never quite managed! Doesn't look bad at all though and I now don't have a griffin looking at me when I'm driving. The other thing that's easy to do is scratch the silver bit which surrounds the disc which I did.
