Hi Guys,
I'm new here and currently interested in buying a Monaro.
I'm coming from a 500+ bhp rwd car (Toyota Supra with big single turbo modifications), so I'm not too concerned by the power, but what is the standard traction control system like? - The standard one on a Toyota Supra is diabolical, and lots of owners tend to opt for Racelogic Traction control which is a fantastic kit - Has anyone tried to fit Racelogic to a Monaro, or is the standard system good?

Thanks in advance

Racelogic on a Monaro is I believe £2K plus at least, but significantly cheaper on the original imported HSVs.The Monaro system is literally and on/off system plus your right foot.

indeed it simply turns off the throttle no brakes etc as such. I know the issue you have with the supra and it doesnt kick in as radically as on the supra, ie pulling out on wet roads IS safe in the monaro with it turned on.

I believe the Monkfish guys have fitted this system to Monaros.

I have it and was around £1600 fittd at Picadors by the Wortec lads.

Fantastic bit of kit IMHO. Was being followed by a colleague in his BMW today and he thought my car sounded sick (misfiring) going full throttle round a corner - until I told him about it.......

Almost as good an upgrade as the diff (which is holding up very strongly thanks guys)

Yes, we can do the Racelogic system, though if you buy Tilers car you get it thrown in

Alan, good to hear all is OK with the diff.

Is this one of the "new" brand of diffs you were sourcing? You'd said there had been issues with the first batch and just wondered where you were with the new lot - are they proving much more successful? Want to persuade bigwheel its time to get one fitted so I can try it out see if I fancy one

Well yes! We have now taken diff building "in house" having equipped ourselves with the necessary equipment to do so.

Fundamentally, this was to ensure that the final product is under our direct control and to eliminate any potential delays from the process.

If bigwheel would like one, we are happy to oblige, He won't be disappointed!

Am i right in thinking that the standard T/C only really kicks in (and flashes on the dash) when things get fairly extreme? I always seem to catch it faster than the T/C does (being a cautious newbie!). The day i first collected the car the T/C off warning light illuminated for no reason and i could only extinguish it by switching off the engine and restarting. As a result i am wondering whether it works at all. I guess i just need to find a bit of empty straight road and find out............

I've just had a similar problem start happening......Every now and again my TC switches off for no apparent reason while I'm driving. Under normal circumstances you can turn TC on/off while you are driving but when this "fault" occurs it wont switch back on again. I have to stop switch off and restart the car before it will switch on again.

Anyone else had this?

I have once. It actually came up as an ABS fault on the dash but that also disengaged the T/C (I'm assuming they are related). One engine restart later and back to normal, not had it since, this was 4 weeks ago.

Exactly right. When the T/C is "working" the switch appears to turn it on and off. But when it magically turns itself off the switch becomes useless.

This is a common problem this time of year with damp slippy roads.........it was reported to Vauxhall/Holden/HSV and no real resolve was forthcoming.

It is thought to be due to the recalibration of the BCM as this problem is not evident in Australia but there have been some reports in the USA.

Also it effects HSV cars more than Holden.......

If you get the trouble code checked there is no report of a fault.

There is mixed reports regarding if the T/C is actualy turned when the "Trac Off" is illuminated.........I have experienced the T/C working while the "Trac off" is showing and I also think that I have thought it not to be working.

But as the T/C is a torque based calculation it is very easy to overcome its effectivness anyway.

The T/C is very simple on these cars (it dosent apply brakes etc. it just closes the throttle!!!!!) best advise is not to rely on it and drive to the conditions........

And my car was the first then, surely as a test car I should have had it for free

A) makes the car feel much quicker and B) feels the same as original equipment, real no brainer mod.

traction control, surely that is the button you hit just after you have turned it on?. I have had my car for only seven months and have not driven a mile with it on. Maybe i need a brain scan.....
