In an hour I am going to pick up my new Silver 6.0 Monaro VXR from the local Vauxhall dealer. From what I have been told the "technicians" are little more than "oil changers" and I don't really want to use them for future servicing, or if needed repairs. In the past I have run a Porsche 911 and a Jaguar XKR and have always preferred a local specialist to work on my cars.

Does anyone have any suggestions? although I am based in the North East I am not adverse to travelling anywhere in the UK if needed to get the car looked after by someone who understands and respects the type of car. I appreciate that under legislation as long as an independant garage uses the correct parts the warranty would remain intact.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Whereabouts in the NE are you? I'm in Morpeth and have found Monkfish to be very good.

Welcome and enjoy........wavey
Did you buy the car from M'bro dealer......
If so you may well have already figured out their quality service, I belive John22 lives near you and I think he uses Greens.......i'm sure he'll correct.
If there was any other dealer who was on the reccomended list... Greens/Picador/Monkfish/LSV who was nearer I would use them, and may try and tie up next service with a trip down south, if not I'm stuck with Kermit, Gonzo and friends

If they have one then probably them, although the dealer at preston farm isnt a monaro dealer and I work on the same park and have never spotted it before.

Theirs also a blue CV8 going down the A66 nearly every morning towards middlesbrough that I spot, anyones?

The local dealer isn't the preston farm one - it's Evans Halshaw - further up the A66 just past the Boro stadium,
If the blue one you see is the same one I think it is - that was their demo car (on 04 plate?) which when I looked at it 2 years ago they wanted £25k - was nearly one year old then - it the sat about on their forecourt for 18 months and they were asking £21k last I saw - alot for a car thats 2.5 years old which was max £29k
Hope who ever bought it is pleased mind.
Have you got a Ro?

The evans halshaw in boro is a monaro dealer then?

Not got one yet, just waiting for values to settle down a bit then will be getting one.

I think the blue CV8 is an 04, can never really see due to the traffic.

IMHO, don’t bother going all way to Kent, Monkfish just as good, closer, has more on-site facilities, you talk to the person who does the work (Roger), and I dare say a touch cheaper?!

FYI

If a non Vauxhall dealer does the service using specificly listed GM parts etc then warranty is intact, however only a Vauxhall dealer can renew your 2nd and 3rd year breakdown cover. If you dont have it serviced by one then you have to cover yourself for years 2 and 3.

PS

Only a Monaro dealer can carry out warranty work as well.
