Not quite that crazy, we saw the TopGear thingy then we had a test drive the next day. My dad was adamant he wouldn't buy it but guess what, the car was on our drive the next morning

I saw it decided that I was going to have. The owner drove it and I bought it although I really should have driven it first as I could have brought the price down. Strangely enough it was the only time I have ever bought a car without test driving it first. Either way I very glad I bought it as no-one knows what it is

I've just put a deposit on one (CV8) without driving it, although I'm going to see it on wed, hopfully I wont be disapointed. It was the Top Gear review that got me interested as well, it's taken me this long to go have a look at one.

Congrats! You will not be dissapointed (unless you just wanted a run of the mill shopping car).

Emotionally I was always going to buy my car. I did go through the pretence of a test drive, but as usual the deal quickly done! I managed a modest discount also as I had printed out a reasonably local one (in slow silver ) that was for less money.

Swore I'd never own a Monaro as a then Calibra V6 owner. Saw it as 'selling out' and I wasn't bowled over with the look of the 04 CV8.

However, saw 'Hamsters' piece on 'Top Gear' and then saw a picture of the 05 and I somehow fell in love with the Monaro hook line and sinker, even more so when James May announced that no more were to be coming over.

Next morning, down at the dealership, got a test drive, change of underwear, part ex'd the missus car and sold my soul to the finance company.

Yep! Saw it on Top Gear back in 2003, did my research on this forum, put a deposit down with Picador before any had even been imported, bought in April '04 and never looked back.

Didn't know at the time but kinda cool Stig in the driving seat giving it the berries around the Top Gear track & if you see the show Clarkson licks the wing of the car !!

Saw the monaro at motor show launch,Red one and Silver one.Found out that my local dealer was going to be a Monaro dealer. When they got a silver demo car,I got a drive,Phoned around to try and find a black one to check out what the 'fastest color' would look like.No hope, none about. So ordered and hoped I'd like it.Ordered in June, arrived in September, and it turned up with the number 50 build of the LSI.
I have bought other cars 'used' without test drive, and had no problems with them.

Just to be awkward, every brand new car is pruchased without seeing it or driving it. The car you test-drive is not same car (obviously).

I saw mine but hadn't driven it when I put the deposit down... I had, however, driven an '04 which confirmed my suspicions - I needed one

I saw it, had a ride in it with the owner driving (private sale) but didn't drive it. I actually had a test drive lined up at my local dealer (Motorbodies in Luton) but agreed to buy mine before taking them up on the offer. I was not disappointed. It's very different from my old car (Puma) and it's not perfect (is any car?) but I love it.

Remembered VBH fave review of the GTS in 2000, in 2003 I wanted a V8, found the GTS on Autotrader for £20k with 30k on the clock with current reg plate & bought it over the phone, turned up at night & drove it away without looking at it or driving it, sold my Omega to a friend who took it away leaving me with an 150 mile dtrive home on me tod, boy what fun I had that night, think I was up by 5 am the next morning with keys in my hand....
