Guess what? Just as other members have confirmed the dealer can't supply the handbook stating that they are on "back order" I've had more than my fair share of new cars over the years and that's anew one to me!

Can anyone help with the following?

1. How do you reset the trip computer? I have tried all the combination of button pressing I can think of and noth seems to reset it.

2. When displaying "miles to empty" what does the left hand display mean? Mine says " O/Speed 125MPH"

3. Anyone had any steering judder under braking?

My car is 4-days old and has covered 700-miles (that's 700 really enjoyable miles) and the dealer (bless him) has already tried balancing the wheels the prevent a quite severe "judder" through the steering under braking. I'm sure it's more than likely a wheel out of balance but would e interested to hear any comments.

1. From memory (and its hard to think when not actually in the car doing it...) simply briefly hit the top right button of the four controlling the trip comp. This will reset the trip distance and also the mpg calcs for that trip. Once you get the manual you will also be able to see how to set up the comp for either 1 trip or two to be measured independently. (Althouhgmt comp seems to randomly reapply old settings and either add or remove the second trip at a whim....

2. The o/speed indicator controls and audible alarm when u exceed the set speed (surely youve heard it lol) WHne it is displayed the up and down arrows set it. Handy on motorways. It has been on commodores for years and is really a through back to when cruise control was not available.

3. Althouhg it sounds no where near as severs as yours i had judder under moderate to heavy braking for the first 1000m.. Put it down to the discs/pads bedding in. After 1000m the judder was gone and brakes were much much stronger.

Hope you are enjoying your sas much as i am mine (3 weeks old).

Cheers

Brake Judder - had all discs and pads replaced on old cv8 after 300 miles. VXR lasted 500 before all 4 needed changing. just clicked 8,000 and needs new discs all round again as warped beyond belief causing massive judder and fightening levels of fade!! Neither have been driven like they were stolen (honest )!!! i would recommend the AP upgarde. Drove a VXR with them on back in 2005, simply awesome...

My Brakes juddered for the first few hundred miles. the cars have been sitting around a long time since theyt where built so have quite a bit of surface rust on the edge. cleared up after a few hard stops once they had bedded in.

Just got my VXR and I am finding the brakes pretty weak so far. There is no visible rust or juddering but the pads seem to smell quite a lot after moderate to heavy braking - I am only at 570 miles though so I will see how they are at 1000.

I am told by my independent dealer that a local dealer has found a manual which I should receive imminently.

Engine is still tight too but making a good noise .

Between 300 and 500 miles my brakes juddered under braking from moderate speed (90mph) The local Vauxhall dealer where I bought the car came out on a test drive on Tuesday witnessed the problem and rang me yesterday to say that they had ordered new discs and pads and would fit them next week. They never even took a wheel off to have a look!

The funny thing is - they seem to be a bit better now, perhaps because they have bedded in a bit with the car having covered 800 miles.
