I'm assuming that decatting the Monaro requires purpose built decat pipes? Is that right or are they a generic item?

would have to be made or imported from Oz/US and would mean you'd fail the mot emissions test. Previous member on here had the Capa exhaust fitted by LSV and had the cats removed on that, not sure if that was standard or if he had it modified but I'm sure either Mark or Tim will remember.

Quite a few have no cats. Touch and go with the MOT man though, depends on the mods. Stock "should" be ok, but no guarantees.

I decatted a ducati a couple of years ago, the improvemnt in throttle response was very noticeable, is it a worthwhile mod on the monaro?

De-cat pipes won't be expensive to make up,your local exhaust centre should be able to make some bypass pipes up, come mot time just put cats back in I have been doing that last couple of Mots, either put them in yourself or if you are lazy £35 from friendly garage and they do it for you,they even swapped them back after the MOT was done for no extra cost.
Never got round to testing without cats though.

Surely the MOT is just an annual test to ensure that you have a roadworthy car?

Cats a required by law in this country and should be fitted at all times. If you get stopped and erm somehow they notice you have no cats then isn't that an offence?
