Cooling fan problem
Discussion
I thought I saw a post with the same problem, but I can't find it - I'm having a problem where the fan is running at a high rate after the engine is switched off.
Just popped to a mates house, came back 2 hours later and it was still running. Drove 10 minutes back home, engine off, and its still running 1/2 an hour later. Worried the battery is going to die.
Anyone know of this, and any suggestions on how to stop it? Planning to get servicing done at Greens shortly so will hopefully get a long term fix.
BTW Jeff did you get my mail?

I changed the relay in the fuse box in the engine bay. There are two, try one at a time whilst it is running. Or just pull them both out and put them back in, could just be a sticky one. I changed 1 and it has not done it since.
Thanks for the quick response delmeekc! Top stuff, pulled both out, and one of them stopped it. Putting them back started up the fan again so I guess the fuse needs changing.
This forum rocks!!

If its a normal square shape, do be careful if buying from a normal motor factors. There are 2 different pin wiring setups used, although externally pin config is the same.
Fitting the wrong one, will cause a short circuit. God knows why people make relays in such a manner.
I was also told the fans may run on after the engine is turned off under certain circumstances but changing the suspect relay did cure it.
Get it from Vauxhalls then you won't go wrong.
Just did the headlamp bulb swap too, what a difference, was going to buy a set of HID's, glad I tried the bulb thing first. Got a pair of 65W ones (done the cutting bit and restled em in (bases are slightly different too, but they fit)) for £15.99 (Delivered next day included) Xenon extreme white, the pair and they throw in a pair of Xenon side lamp bulbs too, and they fit. Rocking, bright as hell.

Just remembered that I have already bought a set of these but haven't installed them, glad they do the trick.
Not being technical, and not knowing when I'm going to be able to get the right relay, does it mean I have to keep putting it in and taking it out when I want to use the car?

are the relays out the car now? if you put them in cold do the fans start?
I had about a week of problems. Every say 5th time I turned the car off I had to go pull the relay and then put it back in and the fans would stop. I think it was sticking on.

Put the relay back in this morning, fans kicked in again. Looks like I need to keep taking it in and out until I get a replacement. And I assume Vauxhall have to order it in.
Thanks for the pointers
Will have a look tomorrow but have my own problems now
, whilst ticking over waiting for the wife, go beep beep beep........ check engine!!!!, drove home slow, all seems ok but I feel a trip to greens coming on, damn.
You sure it's pink? aren't some of the fuses pink?? the relays are black, grey and white?

Whoops, good luck with that. Don't worry if its a problem. You've got me thinking now whether its the relay or fuse I have pulled out. On the handbook it has 2 items for the engine cooling fan, when I pulled out 11 (pink, 30Amp) it stopped. There are a row of about 8 or so squarish plugs running down towards the front of the car, and its at the top. It may be the fuse then.
I'll have a look at the handbook again and try pulling something else out!!
You're right, the relay is white. Whilst pulling out fuses I managed to pull out the blower one and drop it in the engine, what a numpty. Vauxhall should be able to get them by the weekend so will order it tomorrow.
I'm assuming that I can drive short distances in this whether without the high speed fan working? The low speed one is working OK.
Thanks again
